Title: displacement problems
Post by: celmar on 2020-03-11, 10:49:04
hello!!   with a shader of displace, the letters are dirty, on the side, even with a long time render... Any hints to solve, or do better??? thank you!!!!!

in the Performance tap of your Renders settings, there is a Displacement screen size box. Try setting the number lower (ie. 1)

Try to slightly blur your b&w image in PS. Also I've noticed displacement maps with gradients work better if they are 16 bit.

Defo! I used to have this problem as well but using hi-res 16 or 32 bit b/w bitmaps helps and lowering the displacement setting as davetwo said. 👍😎

thank you for your answers!
I've increased the map to 32 bit, but without much improvement... The displace in 2.5 is slightly better, but both have problems... the displacement is on a curved plane, so the displace is better in the center than towards the edges... I solved the problem by making the letters a separate object, but I would have preferred to use the speed of a displacement map!!!

I believe the problem is with your bitmap. I've used 16 bit image with a white shape 3px gaussian blurred. Corona's displace screen 1px, 2.5D
