You don't need it, unless you rendering sunrise/sunset scene where sun is directly visible. Textured option will make sun's borders appear slightly dimmer, thus increasing realism. AFAIK, it is advisable to keep it off in regular scenes, as it slightly affects performance.

Yup... It's about Limb Darkening. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limb_darkening)

No, they didn't, where's the rainbow?! :]

The are also no sun spots, sun flares and a proper eclipse simulation, but I wanted to sound positive ^^

Burnin, how did you manage to get the sun below the level of the horizon?

I think this is just fake horizon :] Currently it's not possible to have Corona sun below horizon - the sun always shines on TV... in Corona.

Oh, well...

I've seen almost all CG Sky models being limited by a simple human flaw - a predisposition that planets are flat, thus horizons are straight flat also - but, since i prefer real truth, i mimic nature >>> Earth Curve Calculator (http://dizzib.github.io/earth/curve-calc/index.html?d0=63.634&h0=3.5&unit=metric) ;)

BTW, i think more advanced Environment model is needed in Corona (especially for architectural viz!!!), with added settings & options for atmosphere, haze, color shift, ground, reflection, shadow intensity, horizon height, blur and curvature... better naming conventions (azimuth, zenith..), supporting multiple skies and suns...  would be of great benefit to everyone. Similar to that which iray uses (tho it has no limb darkening) ;)

... and it's recorded in real time...
