Ok thank you, i will have a look at the corona pattern mod and try to use it

Hello,

In my scene I also have a bedhead with fabric and a wall structure with a TV that is covered with fabric, same as in the following photo!

I have to use this "fabric"

Should i try to make a seamless texture with bump maps and everyhing.. or would you model the 2 objects.. for example similar to this ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtB_41tH8Gs&ab_channel=EstheticSpaceDecor

[Max] I need help! / Problem creating curbs and sidewalks
« on: 2024-02-27, 12:29:13 »
Hello, I despair of my exterior renderings where large areas are a street, curbs and sidewalks!

I have several issues to resolve or questions to ask:

1. When I model a sidewalk and curbs, I place them along a spline, I always have problems making a depression, or I don't know exactly which workflow is best, maybe an FFD modifier? See example picture below.

2. I ve seen many Renderings where the curbs looking damaged, and the texture looks very different on every single curb, also joints in the example picture also look very realistic, how do you do something like that? maybe in another program?

3. I tried to use assets from megascans, but yeah of course if you place 10 similar curbs in the scene it looks to identical.. how are you handling this? Is there a way to make them look different?

4. I ve also seen so called “modular curbs“ assets on megascans.. are they better or special in any way? Or is there a way to edit this 3d models? I mean when you place them along a spline with curves etc.. they are sometimes looking very strange.. is there any workflow for megascan assets do change?

Thanks in advance, br

[Max] I need help! / Re: Concrete material with broken edges

Hi,

Interesting topic.
Thanks romulus for your input. I tried using DataChannel it works pretty nicely, and the beauty of it is you don't have to bother with the edges spline.

I applied the method described here with the timber floor:

Would it be possible to upload the max file? Or can you show the settings for chamfer/weighted normals and data channel? i am trying since some time but i dont get the same results :)

Thank you very much for your inputs!
Also posted this on a 3ds max Forum, and got this reply!

Here is one way to do something similar. Like most things in Max, there are multiple ways to do something and sometimes it just comes down to experimentation and cleverness. There isn't a function called 'Make Chipped Edges' so you have to just figure something out.

I'm attaching a file that has something that's similar. I did this:

1. Made a cube.

2. Selected 3 edges and then used 'Create Shape From Selection' from them.

3. I took those edges and in 'Rendering' enabled viewing them.

4. I added 'Noise' to this and then used 'Relax' on it a few times.

5. I used subobject 'Vertices' and 'Soft Selection to squish a few areas to make it less regular.

6. I then subtracted the edges from the cube with 'ProBoolean'

[Max] I need help! / Concrete material with broken edges
« on: 2023-08-19, 13:13:09 »
Hello,

I am trying to create a concrete material with edges similar to the attachement.. they should look a little bit "broken"

I have tried it with CoronaPhysicalMtl an with AO or Curvature Map in the Base color.. this worked.. but now with the Base bump..
I dont know how to create the material that i have bumps on the surface and on the broken/worn edges..

Maybe i have to use a Layered Mtl?

I found a tutorial for cinema 4d to create chipped/worn edges on the object itself.. but i dont know if this is possible in 3dsmax or how to do it.. and it this is a correct solution

[Max] I need help! / Floor marking parquet floor
« on: 2023-07-26, 13:12:53 »
Hello, I have the following problem..

It is a parquet floor in a gym where floor markings and a logo are applied!
What is the best way to make the logo or the floor markings so that you can also see the joints between the parquet and that the lines do not have a smooth, even surface, but the structure of the floor is easily visible?
The logo is actually just text, so it should look identical to the lines.

I' ve attached a screenshot, which shows what exactly i mean!

It would be helpful to know in which program you are trying to make the net model, otherwise it's quite hard to give you specific advice. Having said that, you could make small repeating fragment of net mesh and then create whole thing with Corona pattern.

Oh sorry, i forgot! 3ds Max :)
