Title: Weird artifacts
Post by: aaouviz on 2019-10-29, 09:08:59
Hi, got some weird artifacts recently in some interior renders on C5 RC2...

I'm not sure if they're related, but before the render I got some Corona errors telling me about some NaN... sorry, but I didn't save the error log or report the bug as requested.

However, please see attached screenshots and let me know if you can tell whats happening... Thanks!

(P.S. I tried turning off adaptive light solver, but it did not help).

Hi,

Would you be able to send over your scene?

Thanks,

Rowan

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I solved this myself (the stripey lines at least, not sure about the splotchy ground yet).

I simply had to adjust the positioning of my portal lights They were not exactly on the openings as suggested in the Corona docs.

One query; is it best practice for portal lights to have multiple plane objects each with a portal material applied (obviously only 1 portal material shared across them), or should I collapse the planes into an object with multiple faces?

Thanks again!

Could you share your scene with us anyway? We would be interested in checking all issues (NaNs, banded shadows, and splotches on the ground). The uploader is in my signature.
If you cannot share the full scene with us, maybe you can strip it (remove all unnecessary objects) and share a skeleton like that with us, with the issues still visible?

This shouldn't really matter, so whichever method is easiest for you. :)

Sure, I'll happily help out by sending a stripped version.

Bit busy right now, but I'll try to get it out today (with the older improper portal placement, if preferred?)

We will appreciate any version of the scene you can provide, but yes, the one with improper portals would be perfect.
Thanks a lot, and no need to hurry.
