You can try using the Intel AI denoiser. The "Corona HQ" denoiser tends to preserve detail on materials with bump mapping, and that can sometimes result in preserving noise too. :) The AI denoisers are generally more aggressive.

Other than that, in cases like this where you are dealing with an interior with strong indirect illumination, you can try the following:
- lower the max sample intensity value (but don't go below ~10) - this will make the image a bit darker but will also clean up the noise faster
- increase the GI vs AA value from 16 to 32, but probably not higher - this will focus more sampling on GI so you will get less noise within the same render time

- Are you using any override material in Render Setup > Scene?
- What does the Asset Tracker say? (Shift+T) Are all texture found?
- Does re-opening the scene help?

[Max] General Discussion / Re: VDB grids

Sorry, I made a mistake in my previous message. When an object is invisible to a camera, it should still cast shadows, etc. But I am still interested in understanding better what your use case is.

Can you explain why exactly you would like that feature? What tileable thing are you using decals for?

In Corona, when something isn't visible to the camera, it's pretty much non-renderable, so it will not affect the scene in any way. Do I understand correctly that you would like to have a volume grid which is emissive (casts some light into the scene), but is not visible directly? Why exactly do you need that? What's the use case? I think this may not be possible, but maybe I could offer some workaround once I understand the specific scenario better.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Firefly

If it's not reflection, then it's refraction. :)

A water material with no reflections will look very artificial. If you want to get rid of fireflies in such situation:
- Most importantly, you will need to render your image for enough time. Fireflies may appear at first, but after ~50 passes they should start converging to a cleaner result. The main reason is that you are dealing with tiny details (often smaller than a single pixel) so you need to shoot a lot of samples.
- If you are not planning to save to a high-bit depth format (like 32 bits), consider using some kind of clamping. You can either add the Reinhard highlight clamping operator to the VFB tone mapping stack, or you can try the Highlight Clamping option in Render Setup > System.
- Consider enabling motion blur - it will simply blur the fireflies.
- You can also try adding some roughness to your water material - it will also "blur" the fireflies a bit.
- Lastly, if you are using an HDRI environment with a sharp sun disk, you can use an overcast HDRI as environment override for reflections and refractions (it won't help if you are using Corona sun though).

It's the latest Corona version with the latest Max.

I don't want to be that pain in the neck guy, but when asked about versions, please always provide specific numbers. "Latest Corona version" would mean Corona 11 Hotfix 1 as well as 05.03 Corona 12 daily build.

There is some additional information about underwater rendering here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/11905001704977-New-Volume-Resolving-in-Corona-10
I am not sure, but maybe it will be useful to you.

Do you have the "physical size" option enabled in your camera?
What exactly are you trying to achieve? Is it something like a camera fly-through where the camera is passing through an aquarium at some point?

Lastly, the best idea may be submitting a support ticket here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Please attach your scene there, if possible.

It reminded me of another "Earth with volumetric atmosphere" project from the past - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=34254.0

What exactly does your network setup look like? Are all computers connected to a single switch/router? Are they connected with cables or through wifi?

Hi, here is a script you can use to change alpha to "always black" for all materials currently selected in the Slate Material Editor.
You can change the number "2" in the last line:
0 - Default
1 - Always white

Meanwhile, the workarounds include either extruding the spline or using 3ds Max features such as the shape map or conforming geometry (which may or may not work...).

I don't understand why use displacement here. For what exact purpose?

Yes please, even a simple scene is better than no scene.

Maru, any news on this?

There is no change - I still believe a simple scene is better than no scene. :)

On a serious note: once we have any test results from a user scene or our internal scenes, we will surely share them.
