rendering multiple camera's with render elements can give me grey outputs of the main beauty pass. And the bloom and glares are grey as welll.  See attachment for pixels

this is not expected indeed. well by me. I think it should work with multimap as well. Why else would we be having a multimap. Multimap = MaterialID MaskingID = MaterialID so yeah it would make totally sense

23
just try this:

one object with multisub material
one object with one material with multimap

render maskingId set on material ID

24
The CoronaMultimap does not show in the CmaskingID render element when set on MaterialID. I would expect the different ID's to show in the same manner as if I would have put a "proper" MultiSub Material on the object.
right?

25
the cmaskingID element looks half element-ish and half diffuse-ish.

Tech info:
3dsmax 2016
corona 1.7

in this case though the SSS effect is NOT visible in the parts with the non-SSS material. In other words: If the translucency is placed in layer 0 and the base has no trans. then the effect is not there at all. If the translucent material is in the base and a non-SSS is in the layer 0 slot, the SSS-effect is only seen on the base material, NOT on the layer 0 material.

well okay then. Attached (I hope) is a max2017 max file. Corona 1.5 HF 2 used. Only one material, just swap the base and layer 0 material and see that the SSS does not give the correct results?

same here, not working...

[Max] I need help! / Re: unknown system exception

reinstalling corona did not help. Further more; i got an 3ds max application has stopped working everytime. Disabling some service got me in 3dsmax but then I got the error in the startup maxscript.
Now I've removed the script from my startup folder and max starts up perfectly.

Saw in the code some legacy stuff being removed and so on... so I figured, once it has done that it should not be started again..

>> MAXScript Auto-load Script Error - C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\scripts\startup\CoronaRenderer_InitScripts.ms Exception:
