[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Object motion blur
« on: 2019-09-23, 16:54:48 »
I kills me when I see version 5 daily build coming out with "Added render stamp to multi-pass" when there are some HUGE bugs that have been holding me back for years now. How can a studio not use motion blur or someone using C4D not be able to use instances and multi-instances? Add blur in post you say? (buzzer sound) Sorry. Velocity pass is broken too. Not sure if this is only for Mac users, but it's getting frustrating not seeing any progress (on the outside) on these major issues. Maybe more communication is in order.

What happened to all the resources Chaos was supposed to bring to the table? Corona is fantastic, but unless I switch to Windows and Max, I'm not getting what I thought I was paying for.

As far as I know, the Corona Camera Tag on the Mac is still an issue. If you copy the camera tag setting to the Camera/Post Processing tab in the render settings and check Use Photographic Exposure, everything renders fine. At least it's an easy workaround.

Make sure this bug is properly reported in their system and not just in this daily build blog.

Sky/HDRI in multipass not working... anyone tried...?

Thanks.
...

Confirm. I have the same problem for sky pass, only black image.

same here! i confirm this bug.

So nobody has a clue about this problem? I have two Macs that are sitting idle because of this problem.

So is this thread confirming that the current version of Corona and/or daily builds do NOT work with r21?

Can anyone enlighten me on the LicensingServerLogin.txt process for Macs? This is for Team Render use and one Mac just won't see my Licensing Server or the text file. I only see instructions for Windows users. I put this file in the app directory, but it doesn't see it. In fact, I've put this file in several places to no avail. I have not run out of render nodes if you're wondering. Thanks for any help on this.

P.S. Not sure if this is a problem or not, but after a while, the Licensing Server window where you type in your login info turns completely blank, as in just a white box where the login fields used to be. Maybe just a screen issue, but thought I'd mention it. Doesn't seem to affect most machines however.

Thank you so much for posting your follow-up solution. I can confirm that your conclusions are correct.

We have two licenses so at least six nodes are available. For some reason, one Mac won't connect to activate the license. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot? Everything is the same version and I have used that Mac recently to render.

Thanks.

OK, I will collect and upload my current scene to the private uploader and reference this thread.

Here is the system crash report I just got for this scene.

As much as I love Corona and the images it can produce, sometimes I feel like I'm still using the Beta, except now I'm paying for it.

On ANY Mac in our studio, the Interactive Render window will eventually crash C4D EVERY time. This happens on a range of Macs from the thin bezel iMacs with i7s, Mac Pro Trashcans™ with E5 chips, to the iMac Pro Xeon W chips. MacOS Sierra to the latest OS. 32 GB RAM up to 128 GB RAM. I mean EVERY time it crashes. I recently used it for a very "long" time without a crash... about 10 minutes. These crashes just make C4D disappear instantly with no spinning beachball and no crash report or recovery scene file. Very frustrating that I can't use a major feature of this software so I can see my lighting in real-time like Max users can, or Octane users, or Redshift users or even Cycles users. I assume V-Ray too.

I can't really upload a scene since every project has this issue and I believe it's all Corona and not the machines or C4D. Cinema is the most stable software I've ever used.

I just tried turning OFF Motion Blur in IR and turning ON Path Tracing, both of which are on be default. The IR was more stable, but did crash after 30 min. just playing with some light settings. I guess I'll try with the non-daily build of v4, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Stage Lights (spotlights)
« on: 2019-08-01, 22:35:52 »
I forgot to post this the other day. I did some experiments with this. OK so the image with three cones of light is using a scene-wide Volume and each light is a different color. Looks great, but it render very noisy. Even upping the passes didn't seem to make a difference. I'm guessing the denoiser would help.

The other image, with the single beam, is a cone object with a volume material applied to it. I think this looks pretty good and it rendered faster.

This page explains a lot of the volume settings:  https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/12000035577-how-to-use-volumetrics-

Your first question is what is the end product? A visualization to sell a design? A photorealistic render or is it an animation?

As for scale, find a large tree near the statues. Assume that tree is 90 feet tall (25 meters). Stack the trees on top of each other and count how many tree it takes to to match the height. Simply multiply that number by 90 feet or 25 meters. That should give you a crude scale of the scene.

Ah yeah, I see what you mean. Any chance you can post the scene file? Sometimes it's easier to tinker and see what the lighting setup is.
