The best way would be to just have a go and then post back your progress for critique.

As a start it looks like a cloudy HDRI with some tonemapping.

The important part as I see it is that the 'brightness' of the surrounding trees and lower level footpath are in a similar range (very dark) so overall the arrangement of lights and darks throughout the image is quite simple, allowing the structural parts of the building to provide the most contrast and pop.

If you lit this with direct sun and were careless, it would be possible to come up with many different sun angles that yield an arrangement with so much local contrast everywhere that the image would look a mess.

I re-rendered this overnight (via backburner on one of my nodes), I just opened the file and it opens as expected.

I guess it's an intermittent problem, or an anomaly? Or maybe because I didn't change any tone mapping parameters whilst it was rendering?

*Edit* the new version didn't have any Lightmix elements either*


**Edit 2 - this has been working all day as it should. But just now it didn't work when opening a CXR. I closed it and re-opened and it worked. Weird. It's intermittent

Hi

For years I've been using a render pass manager called Vexus.

Upon update to Corona 8 - the Frame buffer parameters are no longer being passed from Vexus to the VFB.

I was just talking to the developer who was keen to see if he can update his software to support C8, but it appears that these parameters are no longer available?

Have they been renamed?

In Australia there is a free resource called ELVIS (spacial data) which covers most developed areas that I’ve had projects in.  Not sure if that may be another way to achieve what you’re after?

Search for 1m DEM in your region and see if you can download geotiff tiles.

Convert these from 32bit tiff (1 channel greyscale) to RGB and save it out as a 32bit exr.

Use that as a displacement map with a pixel value of 1= 1m

In Australia I’ve found the data to be very accurate. And if you find yourself using this a lot you can also use QGIS for free.  This has more GIS tools to handle merging the terrain data and saving out specific areas with corresponding satellite imagery.

Those are the correct settings but removing the folder didn't fix the issue.

***EDIT* I've reverted back to the old corona folder in case there are some settings that I have set somewhere.
