It would have been nice if Corona Scene converter had a button for Making the Normal -y +y on all selected objects with one click, the same way it has a button for gamme fix.

I suddenly have a problem that I have not experienced before. I cannot turn off cast shadow on a light in properties. [edit] But when I think of it, I wonder if this ever worked or if I used other light types for this? :D ...Or is this a bug in the latest build?

thanks glad to hear the bug is reported and will be fixed. Just to inform you, I tried deleting the animation of the fog settings, the bug is still there nonetheless and the frames end up different, so I think it must be something else. Maybe something is initiated in the beginning so if you start rendering far into an animation it will not include it - because from what I see, it becomes correct based on the settings only IF you start rendering when timeline is set to start at 0 - the fog loses its environmental affect when starting at the end of the anim, from what I can guess.

Hi, yes you are correct, that is the bug.
Here is a stripped down scene with no textures where you can see the bug. I have included the last frame of the animation rendered with active frame being 0 and the active frame being the last, you can clearly see the two images are looking different.

I have a underwater scene/animation and I have been racking my brain as of why the frames sometimes looks different when rendered. But I have now found out that if you have a volumetric fog (I have animated the density over time) if have selected frame 500 and then render frame 500, it looks different than if I have selected frame 0 and choose to render frame 500. Therefore its difficult to tweak the animation in VFB, because what you see on that exact frame is different from how it will look when rendered as a sequence from frame 0.

I am not sure what do you mean by Volumetric does not have alpha. Are you doing something different than me?

Didn't notice your video. thanks. But I don't mean that the render doesn't have an alpha. I mean the volumetric should have it's own alpha for compositing it back onto the image, if not you will not be able to change fog from bright to dark. But if the volumetric had a alpha multiplied with black, you would be able to make the fog exactly as in the beauty pass.   ---unless there's a way to composite volumetrics which I have not cought.

7
I am rendering the image and save it as exr with volumetrics and composite as layers. Is there a custom alpha rendered for volumetrics? In that case I have not found it. I am getting a volumetric pass/element which I can apply to the image as a additive. But then I cannot add a dark volumetric because it only apply it as additive.

I'm working on a scene where the fog changes from bright to dark over time and I would like to composite the fog if possible by rendering the volumetric and component as render elements. But I have not found a better way to composite the fog than having the layer additive. the volumetric doesn't seem to have an alpha. How can I composite the volumetric and get it looking exactly the same as in the beauty pass no matter what color the fog has? Any tips?

I agree, I think Vantage is overpriced currently ..I mean I would never swap out corona for vantage if that was the choice, so selling it for nearly twice the price is kinda crazy.. But, since I'm never going to switch to Blender and Eevee, this is the best option for "realtime" gpu rendering in max I have seen and I assume it will only get better - and eventually be able to replace a lot/most render jobs in the future. I would love for it to come as a bundle with corona rather than Phoenix, for 800 a year or something. In my opinion. But all in all I think its one of the best features Corona could add, and then just ditch the idea of a hybrid render.

And "willing to pay the extra $600 a year on top of the Corona subscription?" - that's an important point to let us know when chiming in for Vantage :) Thanks!

I would be surprised if anyone would think they can get Vantage AND corona for the price of one.

Personally I think adding support for Vantage would be a perfect way to integrate peoples wishes for GPU rendering, since that has been high on the list but is a humongous task to make. Because in many cases one doesn't need to render perfect unbiased path tracing for every job, with vantage support, one has the option to choose - so it would sort of give Corona that GPU feature. And perhaps it could have been added as Premium offer for a higher price to have corona AND Vantage same way you now have Phoenix. (for cinema 4D users that would have been a more appropriate package, since they don't even have Phoenix)

I hear mention of Vantage now and then, but I didn't get an answer when I last asked this question: everyone is aware that it is a paid product now, and costs roughly $600 a year? So when you say you want Vantage compatibility, you are saying you would be willing to pay that?

Yes I mean I would love to be able to use Vantage, but for that I need to switch to Vray. But I love the Corona renderer and think its sad that I forced to consider to switch to Vray to get fast gpu rendering for the less high quality rendering jobs that could be done faster. So, answer is yeah I would definately pay for vantage if I could have it with corona support.

Maybe should add Chaos Vantage support as part of the vote feature request list :) I think a lot of people hope for that feature in the future.

Is there any updates on this problem. Its nearly impossible now to tweak materials that are using triplanar and such, because every time you move the color slider one step you have to wait a minute.
Nm, chaning resolution in display performance to 1024 helped quite a bit

I’m glad you see the request making sense. If the color correction had a blur feature you can basically throw any map (bitmap, composite or a mix of many) into it and control the blur.

Hi, because a lot of times, at least I do, combine bitmaps mixed generated maps like Corona round edges, Corona distance, noise, and and other maps to to various things and then use the maps for various stuff, like in corona scatter, opacity etc etc... And some times it would be good to control the blurryness for transitions etc etc.

You won't be able to access the blur in bitmaps for anything else than imported bitmaps. Or am I missing some other place you mean where I can do this?
