Yes, it perfectly works in dailies. How to become betatester and get access to daily builds: http://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,776.0.html

For me, yes. But then again, this method has his own drawbacks. In example, if you choose to render with pt+hd, you can find, that it is really hard to render perfectly matching hd cache solution, that would stitch seamlessly. Rawalanche suggested to save secondary GI to fight this issue, but i didn't try that yet, so cannot confirm.

I did comparison between max's panorama exporter, 6-faces render and mental ray wraparound methods, once. And found that pano exporter gives most distortion and loss of resolution at panorama poles, and wraparound was the best.

On another note, does anyone know of any free software / html 5 / flash based plugins for embedding panoramas on websites? I can only seem to find clunky / needlessly complicated solutions through google.
Doesn't 360cities offer free embeding for personal use?

Edit: by the way max's panorama exporter does the same as manual 6 renders, only that it stink at stitching.

It would be rendering 6 images with 90 degree fov and stitching them in specialized software. It'll give slightly worse results than spherical camera would, but much better than max's panorama exporter.

Look in utilities>more...>panorama exporter. But be aware that this tool was writen eons ago and is pretty outdated. I much prefer manual approach, at least until Keymaster will implement spherical camera.

I tried improving the speed, but it became much slower instead. I will fix it before A6
Like a music to my ears :] Will wait for that eagerly!

+1

%Rays/sample would be good too.

If you have any doubts that Corona obeys to that law, just do quick render test and you will see it yourself. Just make sure not to use any highlight compensation, as it will skew visual results.

Update2: i just read in Corona wiki, that use of "nonrigid (deformation) motion blur" causing significant drop of rays per second. Did a quick test and found, that it's exactly my case. So no bug, i guess. I wonder is it permanent limitation or it can be solved in future releases?

p.s. strangely enough A5 seems doesn't suffered from that, but i should do more tests to be sure.

I gladly would do that, but i don't want to share it publicly. Could you remind me where i can put that scene privately, thanks.

Update: looks like i found whats causing so massive hit on performance in that particular scene. It's motion blur. Once i dissable MB, rays per second are back to ~3M and results is on par with A5. I did additional tests to ensure that MB doesn't have any significant impact in other scenes and looks like everything ok, only that scene has problems. It's a pity, because i need MB in that animation pretty badly :[

I did quite numerous tests today and found that indeed CAT has nothing to do with it. It's just in that one particular scene, transition from A5 to dailies went badly. So case closed, i think. Sorry for disturbance.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Jagged reflection in chrom
« on: 2014-02-23, 10:47:14 »
It is hapening because of huge contrast between highlight and surrounding pixels. You can easily check that by right clicking on your render in vfb.
There is few things you can try to fight it. First, you can lower reflectivity of your chrome material, 0.5-0.6 should be enough.
Give more passes to AA by lowering PT and/or light samples. You can even try to increase size of your light source.

Here if the light setting was  in what is specific units - say, in watts, then it would be much easier to control the correct lighting setup. =)
To my knowledge Corona's light intensity units is expressed in watts per steradian per square metre (W·sr−1·m−2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiance

One more question - if I turn off the light refraction- The image Will the less realistic?
Most likely it will, but unless you are creating physical simulation, you shouldn't care about that much. As long as your image is looking convincing enough, you can take any artistic liberties that you need to achieve your goals.

But other scenes converted without problems and most importantly doesn't show any slowdown in rendering.

Edit: btw, merging that scene doesn't work - max crash instantly, but thats, most likely, not related to Corona.
