Hi TomG - First let me say it's a pleasure to read your detailed answers :)

Any changes to tonemapping, post processing etc. will be applied when you save from the VFB history - so you could left click on the history to make it the "A" and bring it into visibility, adjust the tone mapping so you can see how it looks for that history version, and then use the disk icon "Save selected element of this snapshot to disk" below the image in history to save it (to a non-CXR format).
I tried it and of course it works - Just 1 thing - I think it would be a good idea to add a button to the VFB to make all the attributes of tone mapping\bloom\glare\denoise to go to default....Just a thought....

Hi Tom,
I have to say I didn't fully understand all you wrote...I understand that CXR is not a native c4d format so it causes some problems...

*** Is there a way to render several frames and save them all as CXR ?
*** Also, When rendering several frames, I don't see any way\option to select a previous render in the VFB history and change some of it's attributes directly in the VFB

Thanks horpa, that solved part of the problem, I can now see all renders in the VFB history...
I still don't know how to render those frames to CXR - I can only see an option to save to CXR the current VFB - but if I render several frames I can't see how can I save CXR from the previous ones

I'm bumping this thread because I still didn't find an answer...

I've upgraded to C4d r20
I'm trying to also use the take system for rendering different frames of the same project but I still can't see any option to save as CXR, or to save the history of the frames in corona VFB.

Even when  I untick "Clear VFB inbetween renders", the VFB still getting cleared...

[C4D] General Discussion / Stage Object & How to save CXR
« on: 2019-01-13, 13:19:49 »
Hi guys,
I'm new to corona, so I'll probably have some silly questions in the near future...
When I have to render a few shots of the same project I put several cameras in the scene and than use the Stage object to animate the cameras, so camera 1 is frame 1, camera 2 is frame 2 ect.
Is there a way to maintain this process and save the files as CXR ? Or let the VFB keep the renderings like c4d native picture viewer (when a new rendering start the old one is deleted from the VFB) ?
The only way I see to save a CXR file is through the VFB...

P.S.
Even when I untick "Clear VFB inbetween renders", the VFB still getting cleared...

Peace,
Kobi

Thanks...
Any idea why the camera settings doesn't effect the brightness of the render ?

Hi guys,
I downloaded Corona V3 and installed as a demo. I'm on C4d r17 prime, Win10.
I'm trying it on a new scene I'm starting and i'm having some problems:
1. When changing cam settings (iso ect.) the ipr shows the rendering exactly the same instead of brighter\darker.
2. When the ipr starts rendering the first passes looks grainy, like it should, and than it convert to a weird look like i'm using an old IR\LC method from vray - lots of splotches...

All settings for corona sky\sun\camera are at default.

Peace,
Kobi

I agree with Stefan, a real native DR system will be a lot better than C4d Team Render. Also customers using Prime version do not have TR clients at all and in order to use distributed rendering the way it is now they will be forced to buy pricier C4d versions.
My 2 cents:
I'm working with vray DR for 2 years now and it's also a big pain - you have to put all your bitmaps inside vray adv shader, and if a texture is missing c4d texture manager dosen't show it so you have to manually search for each path. Also when using DR you can't use shaders other than those of Corona...
I prefer to pay a little more to maxon for TR nodes (actually I just did upgrade from prime to broadcast) and having a smooth workflow

I'm in the proccess of moving from vray to corona, and was wandering about team render & corona - I saw on the roadmap that corona V4 will have "team render stability improvments" - does that mean that it has issues now ?

Well, Vray for c4d uses something between option 2 and 3 - it has a standalone version (which comes directly from chaos group) which is installed on the slave machine, and in the main machine I only put the ip of the slave machine ( I think we get up to 10 free nodes in vrayforc4d). But (and it's a big but), because the slave machine has the standalone vray that comes directly from chaos group, and not from the vray for c4d developers - I can't use any native c4d shaders or 3rd party shaders - I have to use the dedicated vray shaders (and there are many dozens of them...without any good documentation)...

C4d has a command line render client
https://www.maxon.net/en/buy/license-options/command-line-render-client/
Not sure it's the ideal solution for just 2 machines.
They also have a multi-seat license, but their site doesn't mention how much it costs...
I wrote to maxon support about those 2 options (about costs and to see if any of those options are relevant to me)

I'm beginning to see that for best workflow (on any renderer) will be to own c4d that has team render. This way I won't need to use dedicated vray shaders and will be able to work with corona DR when implemented...
Btw, looking at your c4d roadmap, I would implement DR before Node material editor. Especially now with the new cheap AMD 1950x threadtripper, and the upcoming intel 18 core chips - It makes the costs of a small home render farm (1-3 machines) much much cheaper...just my 2 cents of course :)
I also see in the road map that nothing has changed since the 28/8/2017....Hope it's just temporary because of your move to the new offices and the merge with chaos-group...

Thanks for your fast replay...
Didn't know that was the situation with 3dmax users, and I also don't know what is chaos group policy with DR for 3dmax, In vray for c4d we get many free render nodes for DR
Is there\will there be a way to send a render to a different machine which have a only a stand-alone version of corona (no c4d installed) ?

Well,
Not to implement DR is not a smart step I think. For example- I own 1 copy of C4D prime - which is more than enough for my needs, but I really don't want\need to buy another copy to install on my second computer. There's a huge difference between buying a machine for DR (focus only on cpu cores + ram) and buying a machine for team render (extra c4d license).
I'm a vray user and waiting for corona to be more production ready in order to be able to start using it, but if DR won't be implemented it will be hard for me to justify the move from vray to corona (especially now after buying a brand new AMD threadtripper1950x)
