If this can help, not issues for me with Mirco scene. Im on a Mac intel, Sonoma 14.2.1 - C4D 2024.2 - Corona 11 RC3.

My solution is to model a bunch of different branches and distribute it over a spline. You can use Chaos Scatter on spline. I'm on C4D, in my world there is C4D cloner object also fine for this purpose.
No time to share an example, hope this helps.

It rock's! here a quick test..

Some notes:

- I have to flip frame to have correct axis from pyro cache vdb's.
- How about linking with no cached pyro? I didn't find a way to...  EDITED (found it!)

SOLVED | It depends from color profile preferences in C4D. Linking with display profile, instead of default solve the issue.
Usually I don't use this option, scared by note about performances. :)

As you can see in my top view, it seems to be taking all the clones and jamming them into the visible area. Is that normal? I'm sure it's a setting, but I'm not an expert with the Scatter tool.

Clones in the viewport in not the real number, but a fraction of it that you can set in "viewport display" tab. When camera clipping is on all "visible" clones are redistributed on the "new" area accordingly to "Max Instances" value.

Thank you for all the great effort you do creating Corona.

Assuming that I can playing with lightmix after renders, I'm looking  for a way to get some CXR files out from a render queue. "Automatic save on render end" option in Corona preferences only have effect if render command is invoked from VFB. PV and render queue don't write nothing in History folder.
I've noticed also that when CXR files are written, the files are deleted when C4D session quit. This should not happen at least according to Bengamin's post....or I'm missing a checkbox somewhere?

No problem, I hope it helps. Just remember to disable it when you're done. Otherwise, you will grow a nice collection of files there ;)

Choosing a path for "Automatic save on render end" should be an option...
Obtain CXR files from a render queue should be implicit, or I'm a dummy?
I really hope in a better integration of CXR format output, in C4D render settings==> save panel, it would be ideal found options for CXR format.

Maybe could be easier if we can select in Corona preferences custom paths to corona assets!

Maybe you have "bloom and glare" checked in post?

Problem is related to model not to material. Some surfaces are perfectly flat... they reflect environment poorly. Try, for example to add a little fillet to the bolt (cylinder) caps, and a SDS cage to the ring and check how reflections change....
