Hi,

I would like to use a projector tag, so I first use a flat projection to get texture aligned and then hit paste tag on projector shader.

I then switch the mapping of the material to cubic as I only need one texture to be different and the projector shader yield totally different results.

to be honest not once has the projector tag worked 100%, what is the deal with this very very important feature?

Hello,

we are aware of the Projector issues, we are working on a fix for most of them, but it is proving more difficult so that other issues have higher priority. I can see one of the Projector issues in review at this moment, so you can rest assured that it is being looked into, I just can't disclose an ETA yet.

However on this one, I can't seem to grasp, what is wrong - in my (very simplified) testing, I seem to be getting desired outcomes from using the Paste tag option in the shader. Could you share your testing scene with us?

Thanks,
Jan

Hi Jan,
I have prepared a simplified scene, please see the attachment. The object has 2 material tags.

-The first tag has the correct flat mapping and a Material without a projector shader.
-The second tag has uvw mapping which is wrong for this specific texture but would work for let's say paper texture underneath. And there is a projector shader that copies the first tag with flat mapping, so both tags should yield the same results, right?

I would prefer to pay more for the plug-in but have a stronger team. Projector shader is troublesome for a pretty long time.

Daniel

Hi, Jan one more Issue.
so Projector seems to work only within UVW projections. There is a tiny catch.

If the bitmap has more than one output it breaks down. The bitmap that is fed into the projector shader must not have any shaders connected to it.

You can work around it easily by copying the bitmap, however, for those who are new, it can be extremely frustrating.

Please see the attached screenshots. I suspect this one is easy to fix.

Hi Jan,
I just found another bug. Projector seizes to function when used in layer shader. Please see attached screenshots.
However, this seems to affect only the bump channel, when I plug the same layer shader into diffuse it display correctly.

Cool Jan, any chance this could be fixed in v7 RC?

I cannot really say yet, that is largely dependent on how smoothly our other issues/features pan out.

Sorry to keep you waiting on this one,
Jan
