They look good but I don't really like the 2d humans in the 1st picture. It looks a bit fake hehe!

For wooden sidings I've found a free photoscanned asset with texture. It's kinda high poly (expected) but it looks very good. You can always detach the 4 planks like I did and scatter them around to make it less repetitive. I used it with corona and unreal and it looks pretty nice. www.remnantstudios.com/scans/pick-a-siding I ended making my own texture though because this one isn't very flexible. By the way there are a lot of free photoscanned assets on the site, worth bookmarking!

Actual 3d asset :

On a side note,

I've used parallax occlusion mapping a few times but with real-time engines. I Wonder if that technique would work (or would be beneficial) with offline renderers. I know parallax does not introduce new geometry, it's all in the shader. But it can look pretty damn good imo.

This travertine use this technique : (not my project)

It reminds me of Lloyd's of London building with the exposed elevators. I like that stuff! Great work Bertrand!

I'm surprised Corona isn't used by more than 20 ish %. This will probably change in the future.

Quake 3 railgun <3
Too bad the upcoming Quake Champions one seems to suck from what we've seen from the trailers. :-(

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Vray 3.4 vs Corona 1.5

Unreal Engine!!!

Jokes aside, I'd go with Corona too. My firsts renderings ever were made with v-ray 2.0 and it was a painful process. Then came v-ray 3 that was miles better and easier to understand/tune but it's still not as easy as Corona. The corona interactive renderer is pretty dope too, I don't think v-ray's active shade is very good. I've never had success with it at least.

I guess that high-end architects/designers know that good results can't be achieved overnight!

That's what happens when you are able to handpick your projects hehe!

I'm jealous of Peter Guthrie when he says one of his role is R&D. It would be my ideal job ! Tryout out new tech, new hardware/software without constraints.

What I find interesting is when they say that clients expect not only images anymore, but the whole package (animation, vr, interactive stuff). As someone who works almost entirely with ue4 it's nice to hear! That means more $ per projects.

It's the first time I am ok with a human in a 3d render. Superb work.
