Installed the trial yesterday. It looks nice, but it somehow feels weird :D I gotta get used to it I think. Viewport performance seems very good, and the new UVW unwrapper is a dozen times faster. I did encounter something which seems like a memory leak, but I have to do some more testing to confirm.

My 6th time (I think) as well. Definitely more than worth the price. :)

Ah missed that. Sorry, my bad.

You could have used OpenSubDiv instead of turbosmooth. It works differently so it unwraps easier and better than meshes made for TS. It does produce a higher polycount since the faces are distributed more evenly, but if you're displacing everything anyway it doesn't matter that much. :)

Why quality is expressed in Decibels for the ART renderer? Is it running on sound card?

Those icons look horrible. I hope it will be easy to get used to them...

My guess would be because noise is often expressed in dB given that it's nothing more than a ratio between two values, and the quality parameter in ART is obviously on a logarithmic scale then.

On another subject, I don't get all the people talking about killing off max - exact same stuff always being said with every new max version. Max has the second largest user base out of all ADSK products after AutoCAD. According to people from Autodesk I talked to, and some other industry insiders, the ratio of Max to Maya users is anywhere between 4:1 and 8:1 depending on who you're talking to. Financially, and in which ever other way you put it, it would make zero sense to kill max. I'll wait until I get to test the release before I judge how much/little effort ADSK put into this one. :)

Love the retro look! Great stuff. :)

This one was heavy due to massive displacement. Over 70 million polys in the end. The whole ceiling is displaced, as well as the carpet. We modeled most of the stuff in here except the books, two lamps in the background and perhaps an object or two more. Can't really remember if we did the sofa as well or it's from somewhere... :D

I'm gonna aggregate all my renders here from now on, like I've seen some other users do. No sense in making a new thread every once in a while.

So here's a start, residential building interiors, there are more currently being done, will post when finished.

What romullus said, I think the current range is very sensible and feels friendly, at least to me.

It took me a little while to understand where the "clear VFB inbetween renders" was and it was also confusing since the same option is available in the performance tab under interactive rendering.

It would be quite obvious to have this option only available in de VFB display when rendering I guess and preferably unticked by default.

This! It's a hassle to search for the Clear VFB and then find the right one at that. I don't particularly care where the option for IR clearing is, but please put a checkbox or something somewhere on the VFB.

Also, +100 for filmic tonemapping as mentioned previously. :)

Nice animation. I also like the assembly part a lot.

How many renderslaves do you have? Just so I can make sense of the rendertime.

And for noise reduction try Neat Video as well. It's amazing and very powerful.

Thanks for the comments guys. The bump is definitely over the top, but the client liked it very much so it stayed. And although I'm usually not a fan of too strong bumps, I have to admit I kinda like it here. :)

@Rhodesy:

I googled "statuario classico" which is what that particular type is called. ;) I found a semi-decent one somewhere and photoshopped the s#it out of it.

2 shots I'm allowed to publish from a last year's project... There's lots more but can't post them unfortunately.
