I had same error, the reason was - that by some cases NvidiaAiDenoiser wasn't installed by the corona installer, so I downloaded it and installed separately.
That was the solution for me.

For me, that didn't help. I've tried the followings
- delete optix files, reinstall corona
- uninstall corona, use the denoiser package from here (https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/3/NvidiaAiDenoiser), reinstall corona
- uninstall corona, download the super latest optix from nVidia developer zone, reinstall corona

On the weekend probably I'll reinstall corona again and send some dumps to the devs.

I forgot to mention I have two different nVidia cards in my system. I have a 970 and a 1080. Maybe that can cause the problem. Under Octane it works pretty well you can choose which card to use for the denoising.

Is it possible to set up in Corona which card to use?

CPU isn't overheating, my PSU is a Corsair HX1000i, that should be enough. I am experiencing "only" a Max crash, the computer runs well.

As cdfc mentioned it's still crashing even if you turn off the fast preview denoise. RT is ok after that (for me) but the render itself still crashes. Simple scene, the good old plane+teapot+sun combination, created in Corona 3.

BTW the realtime denoiser is one of the most tempting new features of Corona 3 so simply just turn it off is not really an option. I am pretty sure it's an issue/bug and you'll receive more complains when more people start to switch to Corona 3 from 2. It not happens to everybody but it's not a rare something neither.

Same happens to me as well on a GTX1080, newest drivers, NVidia optix installed trough Corona installer. I don't have any logs and I've already uninstalled Corona3.

Have a look here, I posted example in my previous project thread. https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=17415.msg109258#msg109258
It can be of any size, position and angle. It is to simply stop the light from additional bounce, to preserve more direction to light giving more volumetric rendition of shapes or stronger shadows.

Or vice versa, bright wall/card to bounce additional light.

Thank you.

I would gladly give you concrete names if I had any, but I am quite terrible with bookmarking. I need to make such source list for myself too.

You guys can try Mike Kelley's tutorials from F-stoppers. (He has 3 tutorials there)

That what Juraj mentioned a couple of posts above.

Otherwise, just few classic tricks like placing blocking black walls if I wanted to taper the light and emphasise the direction.

Could you please explain that a little bit more maybe with a few rough examples? Are you using whole black wall pieces to block the light from a room to another or smaller pieces just to block some of the light or lets say multiple smaller pieces. I've heard about that method but I really would love to know how to use it and when.

Thank you in advance.
