3ds Max import FBX - ignore transforms

(1/1)

cjwidd:
How can you import an .FBX so that it updates all mesh objects of the same names as the mesh objects stored in the FBX you are importing without affecting their transforms?

The simplest example is just importing different poses for the same character model over and over in Max but not affecting the position of the character in the scene

Marmoset Toolbag has a feature like this, to "reload" the FBX

You could import the fbx into a new file and the use the substitute modifier to xref it. Alternatively you could import it into a new file, name it as your pose\ and then merge it into your file. The use the substitute modifier on your positioned model to replace it with each pose. You could have multiple substitute modifiers in the satack, one for each pose and just toggle them on and off.
