Importing from Sketchup > Max 2021 and Corona 6.1 all materials are the Physical materials.

The corona converter seems to have no effect on these, as a temporary fix I have had to purchase an external script to do it

 http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/universal-material-converter

Has corona converter lost the ability to convert everything to corona & is the answer to purchase 3rd party scripts?

Any help / suggestions would be apricated. Perhaps I am doing something wrong!

You could also use VRay scene converter ( you will need Vray 5+) to convert those to Vraymtl then use Corona convertor to bring it to Corona .
it would be nice to do that directly with Corona convertor tho.
Simply, I love to put pixels together! Sounds easy right : ))

Hi,

We are planning to add this functionality to the CoronaConverter. However I can't give a timescale on when it will happen.

Cheers,

Thanks, the Vray isn't really a work around as we don't use it.

Re rowmanns, it's great to know it's in the works but any more info re timescale would be very helpful.

It's a major issue in workflow for Sketchup>3ds Max/corona, for us at least, so I would presume a lot of others would encounter the same.

Once again unless I am missing a step that allows this problem to be avoided.

Thanks, the Vray isn't really a workaround as we don't use it.
it is not the best solution, but it is free to use ( you don't even need a license to use the convertor )
Also without installing VRay, I don't think Corona Converter can convert VRay materials, so for me it is a must-have, but of course your pipeline might be different.

Cheers.

Hi Guys, Is there any update here?

To be unable to convert the standard (physical) 3ds materials is a major issue.

I now have no way to switch to corona from any number of scenes by 3rd parties.

Given this isn't free software and this is a pretty major bug it would be nice to see some commitment to fixing it.

Is there any news on this? Its a major frustration and time consuming to convert stupid 3dsmax Physical material to Coronas Physical mat.
Even if it was just a simple transfer of bitmaps into the right slots would be enough.

cheers

Hi,

No new updates just yet. I will bump the dev team and see if I can get some more info.

Cheers,

Rowan
