"What exactly do you mean by file search paths? Could you tell me where to find this setting?"

in c4d prefs the file settings, there you put the paths, where c4d then searches the used assets and tetxures. it is a very needed thing as it isnt always possible to use absolute paths (which is the fastest method to load textures).

we have there usually 2-3 qaxctive search paths to the project folder, some assets folders and often some folder where we imported other project stuff.
i reported this already some versions of corona ago.it improved in v12 but is stil there.

for the displacement i use bitmaps.

i have sadkly severe issues with almost any existing scene made in corona 12. live link gives quite unexpected results, no sky, or only sky with coiuds but no scene elements or objects.
all works interesting erelatively good when i use ht elive link from vray, even thohgh the scene is corona.

i need to investigate more and maybe reinstall vanatge and or corona 13 again, soem seems off here yet.

hope to soon be able to use it more with corona:)

i cannot get displacement to work, any idea?

is there AO working - similar as dirt does in vray connection?

we have the same on bigger scenes, but here it is related to file search paths, lic server is running.

turn them off when opening a corona scene and it opens fast, then after open you can turn them on again.
it seems something corona(and maybe vray) does wrong with the search paths at opening. rendering works fast and fine though,

it must be some problem at star when it tried togenerated the previews or editor shading(only my guess)

HI,

that live link is added with animation si great.

i installed v13 but i cant get live link to fully work for now:

1) camera is wrong, it ignores the x,y shift in c4d cam settings(essential for archviz)
2) hdri BG sky missing(i use a sky +hdri mix
3) luts etc are not transferred
4) many materials are missing, not sure why(bitmap textures), it seems mostly if we use the "mix" slider in the materials texture slot, also a very important feature used all time in arch.

5) it is terribly slow, i almost cant move any thing, not in c4d or in vantage once live link is on.
i have a 4090, on other software the same scene is super fast once exported. the scene itself works fine in c4d only(not vantage live link)

when i find more issues i post here

since several version we have this problem, also reported by others and me.

it is still here in any of my porjects. changing anything of the tonemapping in vfb2 or old vfb initiates the uipr render to start from fresh.
thats not the idea of an IPR (change white balnace, chnage expoosre, contrast, highlight burn usw--all time the render restarts rendering from zero,...(even parsing again)

PLEASE try to fix that. it makes work really hard in corona atm

Hi

we have a plugin near ready for this effect, it doesnt use OSL (s o doesn tneed to wait until tOSL gets workign in coorna),it is parallax via native c4d sdk code(c++)-which has some advantages in speed

in a few weeks it wil be released i think.
it runs natively in corona render on flat and even curvaed surfaces.

i post it in forum once ready

Gaussian splatting support like in Vray would be very welcome. as Corona is used widely for archviz, GS would be a helpfull addition

i see we dont have any new betas/daily versions on v13 or v12 service packs.

are they planned to come back, or is there a rough schedule on next versions/features planned?

well, there are many things that work on vray to cantage but not in corona to vantage yet!
most f the aboce work via vray

beside the above mentioned also textures that use the mix sloder or a mix state like mnultiply or colrorize are not exported.

i thinks the Vtagane export is a great idea and nice to have but needs yet quite soem improvements to be really usable. (atm we have to use vray c4d for using vantage whiuch works pretty good)

i am amazed nobody mentions it here yet. So i start- Happy 10th Birthday Corona Render!

i know we often report bugs and problems or wishes here, but i can say, i can't be happier for this great render engine - glad Corona is here, - and i hope continies to be great for the next 10y. i enjoy using it daily, keep up the good work :)

i have this since several versions, soemtimes the corona VFB doesnt open anymore regardless  what i do, only restartingc4d solves it.

it doesnt happen vers often but here and there and is a bit anyoing withhaveing to close all scenes and reopen them to continue to work. hope this can be fixed. i have also vray 6 or 7 installed
