Hi I noticed that my scenes I have been rendering have been rendering slower and slower for some reason,  I figured it was just that much more detail I was adding to the scene.  But then I checked my CPU usage and it says it's only running 52% at 1.97GHZ, I have a 1950x OC'ed to 4GHZ.  I attached temps from HWMonitor. Do you think My CPU is throttling or is it something else?

Windows 10
3dsmax 2018
Corona Nightly build - latest one.
1950x OC 4GHZ
Corsair Hydro Series H115i Extreme
64 GB Ram

We had that happen on a machine.  It ended up to be a failing AIO CPU cooler.  Check your temps and if your CPU is in the mid to high 80's (celsius) then there's a good chance it's self throttling.  I thought it was odd because I would have expected the clock speed to drop but utilization to stay at 100% but I saw both drop.

Hope that helps if it's it.  We switched to a Noctua and haven't looked back.

Cheers,
Daniel

EDIT:  Just saw your screenshot.  Looks like your CPU is at 93C so that's for sure it I'd say...unless I'm misreading the censors.

Thank you for the reply, I'm not sure I'm getting conflicting data from both apps.  But I do run at 99-100% on windows Task manager at 4ghz, then it starts dropping down to 50% at 2ghz.   But the HWMonitor shows different.  Not Sure about the temps either if I'm reading them right. Wonder if that Ryzen monitor would be better.  POsted another shot with more info.

Okay I think I have a throttling heat problem, I actually hope that is why my renders seem very long.  I attached a new picture running Ryzen Master Utility, it shows the 1950x getting to 86.63 degrees Celsius. That is at 3.8ghz and stays around 62% utilization at 2.36ghz.  I think Ryzen Master app overrides my Bios Overclock of 4 or 4.1ghz, can't remember what it's been a while.  So that is why it's not throttling as bad as before.  The idle temp is around 50C.  What do you guys think?

Since it seems to me that the AIO is no longer working right, it is like 3 years old. I'm thinking of buying a Enermax LIQTECH TR4 II 360 - ELC-LTTRTO360-TBP. It's supposedly there new version with new fluid that won't corrode, I've heard the horror stories.  What do you guys think?

I'm thinking of putting NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM Noctua fans on it for extra cooling.

Forgot to post the Image.

I was going to order the Enermax LIQTECH TR4 II 360, what do you guys think? Is there a better AIO solution, I can't find one.

It's an earlier version of the Liqtech that failed on my 1950x.  I'd never trust that brand again.  Noctua does an amazing job at cooling my overclocked CPU and is zero risk, which is always nice.

I was thinking about the noctua, I just hate how much space it takes up in the case and also I don't know if they could sustain such a high overclock.

Well it's a shame but there doesn't seem to be a AIO worth a crap for a 1950x so I'm going with:

NH-U14S TR4-SP3
2x NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM in push/pull
Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Grease

Thanks for the help danio1011

I had the 3 fan Enermax fail on my 1950x and replaced it with the Noctua and it's been good. I'm not overclocking but it's much quieter than the Enermax and keeps temps to around 60 when rendering, depending on the ambient temp.

I have the Noctua coming tomorrow, but damn now I think I may have made a big mistake. Seems that NH-U14S doesn't fit good on motherboards, I read that it renders the 1st PCI slot useless.  Anyone else running a Zenith Extreme with Noctua?

I think there is some adjustment?  On a x399 Taichi I can run a card in the slot closest to the cpu.

Thanks for the help.  It will not fit in my system.  Didn't even end up opening the box going to just return.  Instead I went AIO and seems to be running great.Below are the specs.

Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate 360mm
3 of Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 2000 PWM
Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Grease Paste

Full load with 3.8ghz OC is a steady 55C.
