Has anyone figured out how to do the sharpen shadows trick in C4D that's shown in the Interior Visualization video for Max here at the 9 minute mark:

Resolution of HDRI map is the most important thing. With LowRes HDRI, you get blurry shadows.

You can generate HDRI map with C4D and his physical sky.

- create a sphere 100% reflexion

- add c4d physical sky
GO TO GENERAL and ACTIVATE "BLEND SKY and SUN" (this is the trickā€¦)

- conformer the texture of the sphere (it's a tag). Object manager > C4D tag > Conformer (don't know the word in english) the texture.
Activate Reflexion channel. Render 32 bits / HDR / Linear Color Space 12000x6000

Experiment here :

- create a new scene

- add a corona sky sur lequel and create a new corona material with the HDRI

- press render > sharpen shadows !!!!!

thanks lenogre, this is a cool technique for creating your own HDRIs.

For anyone else looking at this thread the C4D tag lenogre refers to is Bake Texture in english.

I'd still like to know though if there's a cheat in C4D similar to what's shown in the video, anyone else have any ideas?
