Try without the volumes but I'm afraid it's because of them.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Corona Tile Map - Gap bump
« on: 2023-12-15, 13:36:39 »
Hi Nejc,

Thanks for the tip, the Filter shader is the real star here. What is it doing here to get the bump effect ?

Because it is doing the inverse in other situations ( fresh example here ).

BTW it would be nice to have more control over the gaps in the future ( gap curvature, cracks, dents for example)

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Filter Shader and bump
« on: 2023-12-15, 11:59:26 »
Hi,

Another one related to bump channel, I don't know if it has already been reported :

Doesn't work in IR and in final render.

Note that I'm using the Filter and not Corona Color Correct because the latter is missing few convenient settings ( gamma, brighness/lightness, working contrast )

EDIT : Colorizer doesn't work too. Will the bump channel will be fixed one day ?

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona Tile Map - Gap bump

Hi,

I can't get a bump effect on the gaps with the Corona Tile Map, in IR and final render. Is it supported ?

For sure it will work, the restricting factor will be your .psd file bit depth.

Hi,

If you're using multipass save yourself the pain of managing many files and use multilayered EXR. 16 bitsfor a bit more room in post ( exposure and banding on subtles shades / nuances) with a lossy compression setting to save quite a lot of space.

You'll need a plugin to properly read the multilayered files in PS :

[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: Shift lens in corona camera

Hi,

Corona use the settings from the Cinema 4D builtin camera

Happen on my side too, and moreover this bug prevents Cinema 4D to save properly a multilayered image, even when using Takes. Quite painful when you realize it in the morning after an 8 hours overnight render.

I'm really disappointed by the new CA post-FX in V-Ray, looks like a missed opportunity to get a nicely simulated CA. Results feel cheap and on the same level as simulating CA with PS Lens Correction filter.

https://youtu.be/Vf8T0XXQie0?t=541

BTW I like your proposal about a lens constructor, it would require a serious work on the usability side of things to match Corona ethos, but imo it seems logical at some point to go full speed with a simulated lens rather than adding another "easily breakable" post-FX layer. I guess a performance hit can't be avoided but maybe it be could negligible these days considering modern CPU compute power ? Something similar has already been created for Arnold : http://www.lentil.xyz

Octane also got Chromatic Aberrations support recently, and while it says it is a post-effect it feels like it fully uses the camera settings to generate the effect (some really exagerated examples but it's a new feature so I struggled to find more).

Hi Bengamin,

I've recorded the process:

You see in the video that only the first channel works, others gives the same result as Local Axis anisotropy.
What I find weird is that even when changing the Texture Tag location to make another UVW Tag "active" in a typical C4D fashion, the material still use the first UVW Tag. So in a certain way it works, but not as it should.

Hi,

Glad you found the solution by yourself.

You can even stop the render, save the image as a CXR file, shutdown your computer, and resume the render later by reloading the scene and the CXR file.
Note that while it's convenient you can't modify the scene in between, or rather you can but you'll get artifacts coming from the modified elements in the image.

Regarding the render region I don't think it works that way, the noise variance is computed for the region so 2% in this case is not the same as 2% on the whole image. But I'm not perfectly sure though so it could be nice if a dev could confirm.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Anisotropy orientation UVW override
« on: 2023-12-04, 11:06:56 »
Hello again,

Just checked on the v11, the UVW channel override for anisotropy orientation also isn't working, I don't know if it was already been reported.

Hi,

A quick reminder to fix this one since it's still present in v11 ;)

Thanks,

Just a suggestion: since Academy material is only available to active subscribers, maybe it's worth to dress the sample scenes with Cosmos models and materials and make them available  to download in exact form as it's shown in the training videos? Currently i don't see much difference between Corona Academy and free for all content on Corona YT channel.

+1

Hi guys,

Sorry if that was already asked but I haven't found any topic regarding this subject. Would it be possible to have a setting to choose the type of the bitmap shader created when performing a dragndrop in the Node Editor ?

Something like this :

Thanks
