[Max] General Discussion / Re: April Fools gone wrong?

Don't worry, it is gone now.  Only serious features now. I recommend testing the latest v8 RC today to confirm :D.

what is your computer locale/language settings?

63
Unfortunately not, this is caused by 3ds Max. Only thing that could help would be switching to Qt. We will not do that until we can drop support for 3ds Max versions that do not use Qt (which is around 2017)

Hi,
we will not develop the material library further (except for adding new materials), and instead it will be folded into Chaos Cosmos in future versions.

You can now simply move the library anywhere, e.g. D:\, and use mklink /J "C:\Program Files\Corona\materials" D:\materials command on windows to create a junction ("redirect"). Everything will work as if the folder was in C:/, but it will be stored in D:

just stopping by to say that "mutated vowel" is the funniest way to describe accents I had ever saw.

[Max] Daily Builds / Re: Chaos Licensing Feedback/Help
« on: 2022-02-24, 11:35:19 »
What I found to be very annoying is the following:

We have DrServer installed on all nodes by default running as service - in case they are needed, sitting idle. Render licenses are less than the amount of nodes. Because of the fact that DrServer spawns Max, loads the stub scene and "starts" a dummy render, every IDLE Dr node blocks one render license. As a consequence all other Dr nodes (also idle) which could not obtain a license, permanently throw errors and close/respawn Max. And of course the licenses are not available for rendering on the workstations as well.

To me it appears to be a major regression in flexibility all in all. And no, starting any service/server manually is not an option. And I do not want to use any additional "managers" to spawn the dr server itself just because of being forced to change the license server technology. With the exception of this issue, everything works flawlessly, I hope there is a simple solution.

Good Luck

hi, we will fix this

News / Re: Corona + V-Ray + Enscape = awesome!
« on: 2022-02-11, 18:42:38 »
Do you know if it will be corona or vray as the main engine powering Enscape now?

Enscape will continue using its engine because of its unique capabilities - being realtime and working on wide variety of hardware. We are currently working with the Enscape team to figure out if adding offline rendering capability makes sense as an alternative.

Is that supposed to be Mark Zuckerberg?

I'm sorry but the tree example just won't work - we are certainly not using real pine needle geometry with translucency as its main scattering component. Because our inputs are so far away from physical reality, we cannot expect physically correct results out of the box

74
In my opinion many people is seeing the new tone mapping as a game changer. I wouldn't set the hopes too high - it will not automagically change renders into photos... Just another, flexible tool.

instead of a thousand words

You know Corona works like this since 2012 (w.r.t. the green-red interreflections)? Have you tried recreating the cornell box scene?
