this is a hack we do to list the material first in list of Corona materials. We return this from ClassName, but return normal name from InternalName. The latter should be used in maxscript. Is just "CoronaPhysicalMtl" working as expected when you try to use it? (despite max returning the "hacked" version)

Yes, I was kidding. I assume you are also kidding when you call Cosmos, Scatter, and all the other features we added in v8 "nothing".

We are currently preparing hotfix for v8, I counted 18 fixes there. The most serious one being problems with loading LUTs (incorrect format reported)

The reason this is included is that we want to see how many people want this. This poll is not a binding contract that we need to blindly obey, even if it would mean stopping regular updates for 3 years. It is just a way to scout the market.

NicolasC: you are mixing "GPU rendering" and "real time rendering". "GPU Corona" would not be 60 FPS game engine. It would be an offline ray tracer ported to GPU, with some features missing, but able to scale with multiple GPUs in a single machine.

Ok thats great. Looking forward to V8. Yes thats pretty much all I want, see how it looks with my Corona renders. :) I may download the latest V8 to try. Is there any info how to apply ACES in Corona V8? Is it in the VFB tone mapping menu?

Hi all, I've downloaded the last Daily Build RC4 and I've noticed the changes on the ToneMapper.
The new ACES OT seems great!!! It seems that there is no need to use the Advanced Filmic Mapping / Filmic processes anymore or am I wrong?

While it currently seems that ACES OT is the "make it look nice" tool, I assume some people will still want to create their own custom tone mapping stacks to differentiate their images from everyone else using the default setting ;)

Im not sure if its possible but could decals could be used as masks in other materials?
Potentially by having a material node that can select a decal in the scene and use its projection to mask something else?

Having decals usable for individual maps is something we want to consider in v9 or v10

We currently support as much ACES as we can without hacks while being a plugin in non-ACES DCC applications
