could we PLEASE add a function to FLIP the image horizontally - just to refresh the eyes to look at the render from a new perspective.

For me, this biggest time waster over the years is the UI (material editor) - i know its not a corona thing (or it could have an impact?) - however the material editor, becomes slow and sluggish, mainly in heavier scenes (not really that heavy, fairly detailed interior scenes. 2-3 seconds for things to open.... and i do have the most of the latest hardware/software.... again, not sure if this is solely a autodesk thing or a combination between autodesk and corona materials, however its just so sloowwww and it kills my patience... it sometimes feels like im using a intel pentium from the early 2000's..... its 2024, UI, all of them, should be zipppy and we shouldnt be held back by such nuances.
I get that too: the material editor becomes really so slow sometimes, especially when IPR is running, up to the point that I have to stop the IPR, only then I'm able to tweak my materials in the SME, and only then I start the IPR again to see the results. This isn't how things should be: ideally I wouldn't have to stop the IPR in order to be able to tweak the materials, but if I don't the SME UI is just sooooo slow, it's unbearable.
Hi,
This really makes sense and will be good to have.
This is reported now as a feature request.

Indeed, I guess we needed Intel for AMD to do something :)
Maybe just to clarify my post there, TR5-SP6 is the socket for both PRO and HEDT parts. TRX50 is the chipset for HEDT and WRX90 is the chipset for PRO.
PRO TRs do work with TRX50 motherboards.
To be totally honest with you, on my CRG90 I can indeed spot that VA gamma shift but mainly if I look at the thing from the more unorthodox angles. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this panel performs and I think its been "suspected" that a lot of these bigger format screens get the more TV like VA treatment where the viewing angles are decent. Then again, I might also be not as susceptible to it.
My IPS driven laptop does have better viewing angles for sure I'd say but I really don't find it to be bad on the CRG90 either.
As for the OLED screens, is there a solution for that text fringing issue already? That is a real bummer for me.
Yeah sluggish Max Editor (but also other Max UI) has been my bane for like forever. I've no idea what influences it either, but Corona Materials are more suspectable to it than for example MaxPhysicalMaterial which is instantaneous. And big PCs, Threadrippers esp. even further.
There are host of things that can (potentially only and often in specific circumstances) help:
- running High Performance or better, Ultimate Performance power plan.
- turning off almost every real-time protection, esp. Control Flow Guard. Or at minimum, making exception for 3dsMax.exe.
- yes it seems bizarre and I haven't done it in past either, but restarting 3dsMax and Windows itself from time to time.
- Turning sufficient amount of cores in Corona Setting off for IR. But I have tried turning off half the cores and the benefits are often less than ideal.
- This will cost performance even more, but I am running Threadrippers without SMT (Hyperthreading). From 128 Threads to 64 Threads is roughly 25perc. loss of multi-threaded rendering performance. But in my case, it does make almost every 3ds Max related performance better.
But yeah, outside of that, it's a mystery to me. As you say, ENDLESS waste of time.
I am not sure if the issue is getting worse, or just everything else is getting better and this sticks up like sore thumb.
Maybe we're just used to our smooth smart phones..
