Hardware / xeon workstation questions

Hi, I'm going to build workstation as a replacement for current i7-3930K setup for rendering in C4D. I'm thinking about xeon processors that are quite cheap on ebay.
Is it a good idea to build a workstation with them not a node? I don't have a room in my apartment for two computers.
Another question: have anyone tried ES (engineering sample) processors with corona? Is it wort it?
