Title: Texturing a curve Foothpaths etc
Post by: Philip kelly on 2022-09-16, 14:29:48
Afternoon
Like many I have never had any formal training so I have missed this .
I have footpaths and roads to texture, all on curves.
The modeling is done, so Help would be a grateful.

Thank you
Philip

Depends. Usually best done at modeling time, by how modeling is done (e.g. extrude along a spline, make sure mapping is enabled when doing so). Failing that, you can just put planar UV on it, and paint the texture in the related areas in Photoshop. Or for some effects, like bump, a procedural may work fine with planar if it doesn't have to "follow the grain" ;) Or for items like STOP written on it, use Decals.

(e.g. extrude along a spline, make sure mapping is enabled when doing so).

Even if you no longer have access to original modifier, you can do the same effect using "Spline Unwrap" technique, such as in this tutorial:

Thank you both very much.
I have been cutting polygones and mapping.
Thought there was a quicker way. the UVW spliner mapping is easier , if only there werent so many edges.
Path edge, Drain, Tactikle, main paving, paving edge at shop front....see it's gets tricky.

But again thank you
