General CG Discussion / Forest Pack - Clustering
« on: 2021-10-18, 03:20:18 »
Could someone explain how 'clustering' works in Forest Pack, please?

The dirt / weather stains on the building material is really nice, can you describe how you shaded this area?

There is really a lot to like here especially the engraving on the serving vessel, but the way the pouring liquid enters the cup really gives it away. That being said, difficult subject matter and great execution - nice work!

I suppose I should post some images to illustrate the issue.

Hey @burnin, yeah I messaged her on Behance and she elaborated on the method - sounds like it really depends on the Bokeh kernel.

[Max] I need help! / Siger Shaders - Interior Paint Bump Map
« on: 2021-10-15, 02:00:35 »
I think the normal maps are configured incorrectly for the interior paint collection in the Siger library, as I've indicated here (end of thread).

I haven't been able to get ahold of *anyone* at Siger. Can anyone else confirm this observation?

Trying to replicate this very peculiar DOF achieved by Magdalena Marczak in a series of images called 'Shadow'. The effect almost appears like double vision, but with a concentric ovoid profile that is apparent on the glass and plant especially.

Also, does anybody have access to a Bokeh kernel library? I assume it's really just the shape of the Bokeh map that is driving the effect + bokeh anisotropy.

probably need some falloff in the emission channel to get a proper 'glow' effect; sheen helps here too.

^that's an interesting idea

I like the image a lot, but how did you do the ash in the bottom of the bowl?

I don't want to derail the thread because users are reporting what appear to be very critical bugs, but I do want to chime in to request an update on tonemapping development. I believe tonemapping is unequivocally the next major feature update that users are interested expecting, along with tonemapping being nixed from the v8 release, but tonemapping has been absent from basically all of the latest daily builds over the last several months AFAIK(?)

« on: 2021-10-09, 13:39:50 »
To answer my own question, it is basically a prefab of a Forest Pack object using a collection of proprietary assets and organized into 'system layers'; this structure circumvents one of the major drawbacks of FP, namely the inability to uniquely control scattering density on a per object basis without creating another (separate) FP object. This prefab is organized into a single FP object.

@Nouvelle Mesure, I'm very curious about this project and I have reviewed the website. Where can we *watch* tutorials showing how this asset is used?

@John.McWaters, what are your thoughts after having purchased the asset?
