This happens using 2.5 displacement, and only at distinct views, right? Would be cool if you would send the scene (the object causing it + view where it crashes) to support. Especially George will be happy to get his hands on it.

Exactly!

I'm sending a small scene.
If you don't touch the view and click on IR, the RAM consumption goes through the roof.
If you move away from the object, the RAM stays fine.
