[Max] Daily Builds / Daily version flagged as Malware

More recent daily builds are being flagged as malware by Bitdefender
On-Access scanning has detected a threat. The file has been deleted. \\path\corona_2018-09-20.exe is malware of type Gen:Variant.Graftor.515352
sent a false positive report already. just a heads up.

Could we please please get the Portal image as a renderable output channel
It would make comping easier as you dont have to load in the background image again as a seperate file.
You can just grade all in the one exr.

You could also then render masks for building mattes and comp the whole thing in one frame file.

[Max] Bug Reporting / You can't cancel a proxy export

You can't cancel out of a proxy export before you do it.

I selected everything in scene and accidentally clicked on Export Proxy.
Warning comes up saying about a lot of objects. Disable undo or not.
But there is no way to escape out of this dialog to avoid running the conversion.

You have to kill 3dsmax.

Hi Guys

Any chance you can make the sky system respond below the horizon.
At the moment, once you get past it stops adjusting colours.
Be good to have it keep adjusting correctly. ( ahem - cough cough - vray does this)

Be handy for those day to night and back again effects.

had an issue with normal maps and shadow quality and went looking for why and found this
so no maps, corona materials
surely just pumping more polys at it is not the answer
its almost like shadow is not getting any subdivisions

scene is max2016 cr 1.3 release
but simple to make anyhow

any feedback
render window on left is vray 3.2

Max2016+SP1+EXT1+Win7P64bit CoronaRC2
WIth IR on, and adding object to a group it causes max to crash (save on way out)

Works on Any scene

Make two cubes
make scene use material override
put box one in group
exclude group from material override
start IR
attach 2nd cube to excluded group
= Max crash

must seem terribly obtuse but we use it alot for scene massing to get windows and trees looking different from override.

PNG + Alpha is a standard format for entourage, leaf maps etc

[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Corrupt EXRs

Using Daily 7.1, max2014 sp5
saving using scanline, compression with scanline (as thats what the deadline guys recommend)
When we click on save CFB (save or save all) and select EXR we get corrupt images like this.
It happens on every machine. Intermittently the saving process when finished only outputs the RGB channel and that is corrupt to.
The EXR when it does save correctly, has all channels correct except RGB channel, this is corrupt like the attachment, but we can rebuild from the essential layers
we typically use about 10-15 channels in a render

Something we used to do when this occured in 0.6 was to go to the Autosave file and open that. But that file wont open in photoshop any more (using proexr)
it used to be a good way to recover the scene if it corrupted on save.

changing the exr to tile and no compression still has RGB channel as corrupt.

When doing a network render, render region setting is ignored and it renders the whole frame.
Even when sending the job to render as workstation mode (deadline) it does the same, full frame not render region.

Some render selection tools to only render a material ID or object list would be helpful

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Open EXR file corruption

We are getting a random issue of Open EXR 32bit Float, channels compressed getting corrupted
the RGB channel ends up with dots all over it.
It doesnt happen all the time and we used to think it was one scene but it happening on a few now so we think it might be 7.1
Progress EXR saves are fine, its just the final output

We didnt get this with 7.0
I am wondering if its compression in the EXR corrupting the file, it all looks fine in the frame
we will try saving out uncompressed and see if it doesnt happen

pretty standard network
windows domain, 1gb lan, all nodes are 7.1, all win7 pro

DR does not work in the following case

on workstation You have max 2014 + 2015 installed
you are rendering from max2014
your render node only has max2014 installed
the following error appears

Parameter Received 2015.0
Unsupported max version 2015


It works if you have max2014 installed
Your DR render node has Max2014 and max2015 installed
or your DR node only has Max2014 installed

so it looks like it issues the max version to dr render from latest installed not the current running version

Id like to throw in for the a hair fur feature, we do archvis so i dont need shave and haircut level, just something like vray fur and the depth that had.
Mostly use it for rugs, grass, stuff like that
we havent found a good solution yet that doesnt involve ridiculous geometry detail.
