Also let us know what is in Vantage Live Link Address, in System Settings in the Render Settings dialog (you can probably compare that to some equivalent setting from V-Ray, I haven't looked for it yet :) )

2
It is working here, 12 U 2 final, same Vantage as you, in Max 2026, and using as heavy a scene as I had to hand too.

3
Which version of Vantage do you have installed? And which version of Max are you running, while we are info gathering :)

4
You'd have to let us know the make and model of the Xeons. The compatibility is listed at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4665349542417-What-are-the-system-requirements-of-Corona and nothing changed in terms of supported CPUs between versions, at least not deliberately. Are you getting any error messages? Are you sure it's not scene size and the sub PCs are not just running out of memory? Is Max updated to be the same version on all machines?

5
If you want to suggest it as native functionality, you can post the idea on the Ideas Portal at https://chaoscorona.ideas.aha.io/ :) (or vote, if someone has already posted the same idea)

News / Chaos Corona 12, update 2 — now available
« on: 2025-04-23, 16:36:49 »

Chaos Corona 12, update 2 released for both 3ds Max & Cinema 4D
Corona 12, update 2 is primarily a technical release for some backend changes that needed to be made, but we're including some features that were being developed for Corona 13 and happen to be ready!

Full details: chaos.com/blog/corona-12-update-2
Download: my.chaos.com/download/build?product=Corona

What's new in Corona 12, update 2:
  • Chaos Scans are now available in Cosmos. Your favorite collection of 3,100+ scanned materials, now at your fingertips in Chaos Cosmos — making your workflow smoother than ever. Around 200 new archviz focused materials are also being added.
  • Automatic Virtual Tours. Generate immersive panorama virtual tours automatically with the new Auto Hotspots.
  • Per camera Global Volume Material override. Lets you set different global volume materials for each camera.
  • Differential Ray Filtering. Development of this was required for Toon Shading coming in Corona 13. It sharpens textures seen through refraction, some reflections, and in some special camera projections such as Spherical.
  • Faster IR Parsing when scrubbing on the timeline in 3ds Max. When you move to a different frame on the timeline with IR running, Corona no longer reparses the entire scene but instead only reparses any animated objects. Developing this was required for rendering via the Vantage Live Link in Corona 13. (Notes: does not affect final rendering, and was not required in Cinema 4D as it already does something similar)
  • New Minimap in the Corona Node Material editor in Cinema 4D. Now you can navigate around your materials with ease.
  • Converter improvements in Cinema 4D. Now converts V-Ray Clipper, V-Ray Triplanar, V-Ray Twosided material, V-Ray Blend material, V-Ray Geometry tag, V-Ray Proxy, V-Ray Decal, and V-Ray Enmesh.
  • And much more!
We also want to thank Iraban Dutta for 18 new LUTs included with the Corona installation - for any inquiries or further information, please contact iraban.3d@gmail.com, or advancedschoolofvray@gmail.com, or through https://www.youtube.com/@advancedschoolofvray

We'll probably see that for Corona 13 in June, perhaps earlier; it certainly won't be for Corona 12 Update 2 as it doesn't bring any significant changes for the Vantage export or live link, and in fact being a technical release, there won't be a trial reset for Corona itself either for this one.

About this Forum / Re: Is the forum slower this days?
« on: 2025-04-22, 15:18:52 »
No news yet :( I'll chase up my ticket as I was expecting some change last week.

Several threading and speed issues addressed since back when this was an active thread - the thing to do would be to try out the Release Candidate and see if things are still slow, and if so to post under the discussion for the current build please (or send in a ticket, via https://support.chaos.com/requests/new ).

EDIT oh yes also make sure you are on the latest version of Windows, since there was an issue there with some AMD processors and a certain build of Windows, resolved in an update to Windows.

General CG Discussion / Re: Have you seen Unreal Engine 5.5?
« on: 2025-04-21, 13:14:24 »
Out of curiosity, have you tested Vantage as a way of getting GPU rendering speed, since conversion from a Corona scene is far easier than getting something over to and working in Unreal? (And then you have the best of both worlds, from one scene). Would be interested to hear thoughts from someone who is experienced with using UE.

That's exactly it yep :) Build the scene in a way that represents the real world (I was going to say "reflects the real world" but that was too bad a pun even for me!)

Or give it some thickness / make it closed geometry (ie make it like the real world, since no objects have zero thickness / are not closed)

You can see OIDN (the Intel Open Image Denoiser) compatibility list and changelogs over on their site at https://www.openimagedenoise.org/

It's about the Intel Denoiser not working with Blackwell series GPUs (the 50 series) - the fix was released along with RC1 for Corona, "Added support of Intel Denoiser for Blackwell (NVIDIA 50-series) GPUs." in https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=43295.msg232607#msg232607

(We had to wait for Intel to make OIDN compatible with Blackwell :) )

Thanks for taking the time to add that! I will make it live shortly so folks can vote :) Understood on the frustrations that come with it, have run into them myself at times lol :) Definitely been a growing concern of mine over the last year or so even more than usual. Plans for 14 will be made in June once we are at the point of release 13, so plenty of time for people to vote on this if they too are running into problems.
