Hi!

I'm encountering a strange problem, and I don't even know what it's related to. I have a wardrobe in the corner of the room, and in an interactive render, it looks like there's some space between the object and the wall, but it's actually much farther away. The problem persists even when the wardrobe is positioned without intersecting the wall.

I have no idea if it's related to the lighting, materials, or something else. I don't even know how to describe it to look for solutions on this forum or Google.

I'm using an HDRI map for lighting.

Thank you!

Hi,

If i understand your description correctly, the wardrobe object is positioned flush to the wall, or even slightly intersecting it, but when rendering there is some gap between them. Is that correct? I would check if the wall material has a displacement applied that is pushing the surface back.

Hello!
Thank you for the reply. Yes, you understand it correctly.

I don't have any displacement map in either the wall or wardrobe material.

what if you replace that wall with a simple cube mesh without any modifier and material? do you still see the shadow?

I replaced the box with a new one (the wall one), and the problem disappeared. I don't know what happened with the faulty one because it was made the same way.

Thank you for your help!
