[C4D] Bug Reporting / Cosmos browser cannot register the host application

Cosmos browser cannot register the host application.

For now better not to update to the latest C4D2025. I tried the previous solution that worked for C4D2024 and CR13 by uninstalling Cosmos and deleting Cosmos Library files. It does no longer for C4D 2025.

Cannot open the Cosmos Browser, because Cosmos Service is not running.

Does anyone know how to get Cosmos working. Had it running before but it seems out of service now.

[C4D] Daily Builds / Daily Build June 12 on Mac Studio

I did a quick test with the latest build June 12:
• Files don't open made with 11 or so slow that I decided to force quit. This problem remains.
• New VFB 2.0  looks better but does not work ( well ) on a Mac Studio Ultra. Zooming in and out is a hassle to keep the image properly within the window. C4D picture viewer works well though.
• C4D crashes after quit. Not sure if this is related to CR. It also crashes after quit with 11.

Build 12 is not functional yet on a Mac Studio OSX Sonoma 14.5 and a fully updated C4D.
Downgraded back to release 11.

Gallery / sketch for a small apartment building

I got a basic 2D layout for an apartment building and a budget of a days work to design the exterior materials, build the 3D model and some terrain and provide for two renders.
I used Chaos Cosmos 3D humans and was surprised how good some of them are. Some are very bad though but some are really very good. Zoom in on the old man reading.

Something was a bit weird. Even though the CR-camera lens was not all that wide angle (50 to70mm) I thought the camera view seemed still very wide, much wider than I expected. Some setting must be wrong or I am just imagining this.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / crash after rendering a lot of passes

Hi,
I often have a crash after rendering for a long time, hours or days with passes exceeding 500 or more.
See attachment for a crashreport.
In this case the rendering was great but could not be saved. Wireless keyboard and mouse became unresponsive and had to connected them with wire to find my way back to the finder. Cinema4D kept rendering (activity monitor) but without any response for the menu's so I could not save the file and had to force quit.

Also, after any CR render C4D crashes at quitting the app. It does not matter much but still.

C4D 2024.4.0 and Corona render 11 hot fix 2
Mac Studio OSX 14.4.1
128Gb about 80Gb used at render.

[C4D] Feature Requests / Ivy generator for C4D/Coronarender

Might it be possible to have a Corona or Chaos Ivy generator for C4D with Coronascatter ?

C4D now has an Ivy generator for Redshift if you get the Maxon One subscription. I don't see myself getting a Maxon One subscription as well. Actually planning to scale down on subscriptions.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / C4D crashes at closing file

I notice that once a render is done and I save the files and close C4D, C4D crashes, not always but often especially when it's been rendering for a while. It's not a big problem since all is saved and done. This happened before now and then in previous releases and was solved as well.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Can not save alpha channel

In the latest daily build I can when I save all the Alpha channel is not saved. I don't know how I can save the alpha channel. It shows up on the screen though but not in the saved files.

I can safe an alpha channel by saving a TIFF file but jpg's do not save with a separate alpha as they used to do.

Anyon can explain this. When I use moss from the Chaos Cosmos I get strange results. See attachment. When I change the randomiser in the material to tile things get much better. But I am wondering if this is a bug or a faulty material or something else.

[Scatter] I need help! / Spline fall off only up to a 100 cm

Am I right to understand that scatter along a spline fall off can only be set to a limited distance, in my case up to 100 cm.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Need to restart for every render

Latest versions of everything incl. latest C4D.

Since recently I have to restart my system in between every render. System stalls almost immediately at parcing scene. I thought it was because of the huge size of my scene (3,5Gb). But even smaller files have the same problem.

Viewport flickers when Corona sky is active. Happened when I placed a Maxtree asset and when the sky was deleted or inactive the flickering stopped. It does not always happen. Its intermittent mostly when files get big.

[C4D] General Discussion / Photographic (physical ) settings versus Simple exposure.

I am trying to understand and set photographic settings but somehow it does not have any significant effect. And so I always use simple exposure.

It looks like there are 3 separate locations for setting photographic settings, at corona camera level, at the VFB, and at the Camera/Postprocessing at the render settings. I have no clue in what way they override each other and also never see any effect on the image changing photographic settings at any of the locations. Why not simplify this and keep photographic settings only at camera level and make it work. I have never been able to reproduce a simple exposure of -5 for an exterior render by setting a photographic. Is it a bug or me with a lack of complicated knowhow that keeps me using simple exposure.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Chaos Cosmos opacity maps missing

I noticed that when adding assets from Chaos Cosmos the opacity maps are missing for the leaves of trees.
Trying to render trees from Chaos Cosmos results in trees without leaves.
I tried to reconnect opacity maps but they are not downloaded with the assets by Chaos Cosmos.

[Scatter] Cinema 4D - Bug Reporting / texture maps for distribution and other settings not working

I noticed that setting texture maps like C4D noise for distribution is not working. Sometimes it does but mostly it does nothing. At least I do not see any thing happen in the viewport when changing settings for the type or scale of the noise.
