You can use a single cache for multiple cameras. The only risk is that the quality of the cache generated from camera A will be a little bit worse than if it would be generated for camera B, but that should not be any major issue. It should not cause any rendering slowdown or other problems.

Since you mentioned sea waves, if it's an exterior scene (like a beach) without interior elements or areas illuminated by strong GI, maybe the best solution would be to use path tracing as both the primary and the secondary solver? The UHD cache is mostly useful for interiors.

Thanks, will try that for the next animation. We made a hdcache for each camera in the end since we were in a hurry. Thanks!

No one? Devs?

Hi all, this might be a noobish question, but we are about to render a big resolution, so we want to make sure we do everything correctly. Is it possible to use the same HDCache file for multiple cameras of an exterior animation with only moving people and sea waves, or do we need to make an HDCache for each camera independently?

Hardware / Re: Dual Epyc 9654 experience?

Hi maru, yes we can share this scene, but it happens in all the project i am working on, tested this on 20+ different projects/3dsmax files and in every case it is the same: the geometry phase takes 10 x longer? also compared this with a friend (ryzen 5900x) and his geometry phase was arround 12 x faster (same scenes/projects, tested this with over 10 diff max files) so share?

It would be great to sort it out, and it would help others decide whether to go with 9654/9754. Can you please share the scene with Maru to sort it out?

Yes please, even a simple scene is better than no scene.

Maru, any news on this?

Hardware / Dual Epyc 9654 experience?
« on: 2024-01-16, 10:03:52 »
Hi, Is anyone here running a dual Epyc Genoa system, preferably 9654 or 9754`s? I wonder if the scale is better than with EPYC 7702`s 1 CPU vs. 2 CPU systems.

Will this be incorporated into a new 10 hotfix?

Does it work better for you in V11 dailies?
We won't be releasing any new V10 hotfixes as V11 is planned to be released in about 1 month. :)

We can`t really test dailies due to current office workflow, but this is a major issue.

It's been a while but we have just released a new daily build of Corona 11 with a fix for Triplanar map performance issues. You can find it here:
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=40442.msg217142#msg217142

Please test it and share your results with us.

Will there be a hotfix for C10 with this applied?

Reverted to 9.3, everything works normally. Render nodes are all single and dual 7742 epycs, performance dropped to roughly 25%. Scenes have triplanar maps, all are cleaned with sini forensic so no errors.

We are also having a lot of rendering speed problems with  10.1. Will files be affected in any way if we revert to 9.3?

Yes, but there is no solution yet?

Hi, thanks for looking into this. Yes, it gets tough to move, hope it will be sorted out.

Thanks,

Bumping up this old topic, we have issues with viewport performance when having several hundred sphere lights in the file. The workaround, for now, is to have them as a disc with 3 sides and turn into a sphere before rendering, but is there any way to improve its performance with sphere lights? We`ve set gizmo to 0, wireframe visibility.

Thanks,
H

Hardware / Re: 10Gbe setup

That is what I want to find out. Does 80 Gbit work only for each node at that speed (if it can achieve it) or it allows eight nodes on 10 Gbit connection to run at pretty much max speed?
