I have the same "install rosetta" issue on a M4 mini / os 15
I posted on the chaos help, but their response can take a couple of days....

I thought the installer is universal and can run apple silicon natively. What's going on here?

frv,
how do save the MT assets to your asset browser?
I always “overwrite” the 5 variations with the first material, so all 6 assets use the same material. Then I group all in a null before adding to the asset browser.
This way, when you load these assets into a scene they only use 1 set of materials for all variations.
But of course, John_Do’s scripts are brilliant!

I checked other “new assets” (sorted by date) and their materials are also a mess.
Why does a tree trunk have the same IOR as air? Leaves with self illumination?
Given that we're paying for a subscription to access these assets, we expect them to be of high quality and free from such errors.
What steps are you taking to ensure that future assets are accurate and reliable?

Your screenshot shows the same issue.
Why is the IOR value 1.0? This is obviously wrong.

I’m still on intel Macs. I keep more of an eye on r/sec instead of absolute render times, and r/sec stayed pretty consistent since V9

The stats displayed in your VFB are definitely strange. Are you using team render or just a M1 max MBP?
I think 11M rays/ sec is too high for an M1 max, even if only clay mats are used.
I would run these tests again and override all mats with a simple clay material to make sure there is no weird corona bitmap shader hidden somewhere. Use simple glass or delete windows.

Did you ever benchmark your M1 max? What r/s are you getting in the benchmark?
The 24M r/sec in V12 is just wishful thinking - that would make your MBP the fastest Mac ever build and would even bring Steve back to life.

Do you know for sure the render times are actually that much slower (stopwatch?) and not just a stats issue?
Anyways, no idea what’s going on here but hope the devs can help with this.

Hi habber,
Also, your rays/sample went up from 86 to 338 (lower is faster). Very strange.
Your mats look pretty simple but did you check if something funky goes on in your materials?
Is this your “test” scene? Maybe you can simplify the materials further? The walls have bump and not displacement correct? My r/sample are usually around 50-60.
Was there a change in UHD calculation bet. V9 and V10?

Hi all,
Is it just me or are many COSMOS materials still wrong? It’s mostly random IOR values, or (Maxtree’s) leaves with self illumination ticked on, etc.
I can never use assets out of the box, always have to check everything.

I always have the VFB open for the settings and the C4D picture viewer for having a look at the image. Clumsy but the only way regretfully.
Same here. Why can’t Chaos just take all UX for image navigation from the PV?
Even the double click in image to “Fit to Window” and d-click again for 100%, is perfect.

First off, thank you for removing the zoom buttons and adding the “calculate after render” option to bloom and glare.
I couldn’t find any information about this checkbox and assume it’s a placeholder for now, as it doesn’t seem to work yet.

Maybe it’s a macOs thing, but I can’t figure out how to easily pan around a zoomed in image.
Please let me know how to get the Hand tool. It’s not the usual “press spacebar”
The PV automatically switches to the hand tool when zoomed in enough - perfect!

The right sidebar for Post, Stats, etc is very large and can’t be resized. Will it be possible to resize the sidebar in the final version?

Nothing?

… reduce the amount of shadows made by the shadow catcher material?
So it don't extend beyond my render dimensions?

Seems like you’re asking 2 different things. Do you mean less shadow density or how far the shadow is reaching…
Since this shadow does not look realistic, best to start with adjusting your light.
What’s the look you are after?
Is the red part a stylized road? Then only use 1 light - the sun… adjust softness of shadow with “sun size” and use a bounce to lighten the shadow side - same as IRL.

Thanks edoardo_explorer,
changing the corona light "directionality" to imitate sun light doesn't really work for me. Doesn’t look realistic at all.

Maru, is this the wrong place to ask for help?
Do I need to open a support ticket for this? If so, is there someone in the support team that knows how lighting interior shadow catcher in C4D works?

Hi Corona team,
What is the right approach to lighting a “interior shadow catcher scene” to mimic direct sunlight entering a room? See above for context…
I was looking around the max forum to maybe find some clues…
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=28846.msg168169#msg168169
Just make a copy of object with ordinal material and change properties to not see in render but cast shadows
This does not work in C4D.

Thanks for your test.
I thought the whole point is, that the shadows created by C-sun and or C-sky are not realistic when you build the room, leave an opening for light to enter and apply SC mat to wall floor and ceiling. See attachment. That shadow never changes regardless of what you use.

Just like your first post said, even when you make an “outer shell” with regular material that should just block the sun and/or sky light, it’s ignored and the shadow catcher receives full sun light.

My question is exactly for these “edge cases”, how to correctly light a scene where part of the furniture is in direct sun light and part in diffused bouncy light.
Did you ever get a better answer from the corona team?

Thanks for the link, that room modeling with image projection is pretty cool.
Since you can’t really use a corona sun, it’s still not clear how to recreate direct sun light with a corona “area” light. Is cranking up the directionality the only way?
Just as example, how would you recreate the light to hit your furniture in the attached image?
