I have scenes that crash after two or three rerenders (Using the 'Render Last' button). I'm pretty sure it's related to a character asset that has Ornatrix hair. It crashes during the parsing stage (Max 2019).

I am uploading the minidump file to the private uploader. The file is called:
1560672789_3dsmax-minidump.dmp

Thanks!

Hi,

Would you also be able to upload your scene?

Could you also tell me which version of Ornatrix and Corona you are using?

Thanks,

Rowan

Uploaded to Dropbox: 'cyanEyed_coronaBugOrnatrixCrash.zip'

Steps to reproduce:
1. Highlight the viewport showing the camera, 'render_cam'
2. Press the 'Render Last' button and wait for render to start rendering passes.
3. Wait for render to finish, or cancel the render once it has finished at least 5 passes.
4. Press the 'Render Last' button again.
5. Crash during parsing stage. You may need to render three times to cause the crash.

Crashes occur on Threadripper 2 builds, and a dual Xeon build.

OS: Windows 10 (Threadripper 2) \ Windows 7 Pro (dual Xeon)
Corona version: 4 (RC 3)
Ornatrix version: 6.1.6.19303

I've also attached a screenshot from my one of my Deadline submissions. As you can see in the 'Errors' column, there are plenty of errors, but the frames eventually complete, though seemingly at random.

Also, you can use this scene for the issue I mentioned in the following post about adaptability and noise in motion blurred hair:
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=25036.msg150452#msg150452

Any frame where the camera is moving has this issue, for example frame 1042.

Thanks!

[Edit]: I just realised that the 'Collect Assets v2.09' script didn't catch the alembic file used for the hair, so I uploaded it to the Private Uploader '1561047469_es-020-cache-pirateHair-v005.abc'. It gets loaded on the following object and modifier:
geo_prt_hairHeadMain -> Ox Strand Animation

From the initial investigation by Njen, it seems that disabling multithreaded parsing in the development rollout prevents the crash (https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000021288).

Hi Njen,

We have carried on investigating this and have discovered that the crashes are related to the geo_prt_feather geometries.

We are now in contact with the Ornatrix guys in order to resolve this.

Thanks,

Rowan
