Excellent execution! Well done.
fantastic!
Holy shit, this is all done so well.
Congrats!
some of the most photorealistic stuff Ive ever seen, so good !
Thats my teacher !
The drawback of this technique is to be limited to just 1 object.
I would say the main drawback is, that the falloff map does not respect geometry of the distance object so that you are limited to a radial/spherical area. You cannot cut straight lines with it. Have you tried using the distance map in the shader opacity slot instead? This may be a better workaround.
Good Luck
Hi,
Thanks for reporting this to us. I can confirm the issue in RC4 and in V3 HF2.
I've reported it to the development team, but the chances of this making it into V4 are unfortunately very slim :(
I'll do my best to keep you updated on any progress.
Thanks,

I would say this is because light from the light source is actually now being refracted (which is what caustics do, bend light), while previously light from the light source was not being refracted (only the ray from the camera was being refracted, determining what you saw through the water, but not determining how light from light sources was bent by the water). But, would need the devs to say for sure :)
Does it happen without the material editor being open, too?
It's always a good idea to include a simple repro scene.
Hi,
Thank you for reporting this to us. As suggested it would be very helpful if you could attach a simple scene which produces this crash in order for us to reproduce this issue.
Can you please also send me the minidump which is created when the crash happens? Instructions on how to do this are in my signiture.
Thanks,
Rowan
