I wish I can test real time raytracing in ue4 but the cards are too damn expensive. A lot of the studios that make pre rendered content are experimenting with it and some have adopted it for a good number of their projects.

Thank you for appreciation, we used 3ds max hair and fur modifier for hair and corona scatter for grass.

Thanks for the info :-)

General CG Discussion / Re: Houdini in Archviz workflow
« on: 2019-08-06, 16:02:38 »
Houdini is definitely the future. There are so many things it does perfectly well and helps speeds up the workflow process through procedural means. There is even an apprentice version that can be used to start learning it. I wish I had the time to start learning but I don't.
It currently has all the features of Maya/3dsmax now after being for the vfx side of things initially.
For archviz, it would be out of this world, modeling, cloth effects, smoke, water, particles, and these are all node based. The possibilities are endless.

 Blender 2.80 officially is out.

There are also two seperate branches which I would suggest u try out:

The sculpting branch with a lot of improved features:
https://blenderartists.org/t/pablo-dobarros-master-plan-for-sculpting-and-his-official-sculpting-branch/1150731
and
the UDIM painting branch (This is awesome):

They would be added to master in Blender 2.81 hopefully.

Excellent work, mate. The one thing I would critic is the low resolution of the road texture in the second pic. Always pay attention to the details of the textures closer to the camera. They need to be high in resolution. If you plan out all the cameras for your scene, make sure the textures of assets closer to the camera don't look lower than the resolution of the textures for other assets in your scene.
Look into Texel Density in cg :- )

The RTX cards have been out for some time now, out of curiousity, has anyone here tried out the card with ue4 and realtime raytracing? How well does it hold up and your experiences using it? I am wondering how production ready it is for animations especially archviz.

Gallery / Architect & Kitty

I decided to sort of tell a story in this piece. An architect gets home to find his kitty has done a lot of work in his working room and decides to have some sleep afterwards. I have always wanted to tell stories using architectural elements. I sculpted and textured the cat in Blender.
Modelled everything except for the leather chair and open book which I could easily do but didn't want to waste time on, textured them myself as well. Assets were textured using game engine techniques to speed up texturing and make things more streamlined if there is need to export to game engine later. Learnt a lot from this project.
Used 3dsmax and Corona renderer. Photoshop was mainly used for texturing.
I intend to try and tell more stories in future using architecture.

Some stuff some artists have done with Blender eevee. All rendered from viewport.

Also,if u are into character or cloth animation, checkout this blender addon :
