[Max] I need help! / Re: Studio lighting
« on: 2018-07-04, 12:34:55 »
There is no preset for a studio ligh. Every shape or object needs a speacial treatment with light and reflection. Using a default setup results in lazy images. Use the interactive rendering to tweak lights. The internet is full of tutorials, showing how to setup studio lights. Backlight, Top light fill light and so on. This might take some time to get in but makes you a better artist!

Jup! That did the trick. I did not knew that there was an update available for the Laubwerk player. And even after you told me, it took some time to figure out how to update it. I was looking for an update button or an update file on their website. Just reloading and reinstalling the player was to easy for me.

So thank you for the help guys.

Have a nice day.

[Max] I need help! / Corona + Laubwerk = Crash !!SOLVED!!
« on: 2017-10-11, 13:57:24 »
Hi

I am facing big problems while using corona and Laubwerk trees in 3d s max. Each time i've selected a Laubwerk tree and hit the render button corona freezes while transforming vertices. This is ultra tedious because it happens so often. I did a test with v ray to check if it is a max problem, but it does not seem to be the case. It must be something between laubwerk and corona. The problem exists since some years. Right now i use Corona 1.7 but had same problems with earlier versions as well.

I did some further testing and realized, the the problem only occures when the laubwerk tree is displayed in pointcloud mode or simple geometrie.
But I cant display all of my trees as full geometry objects.

Maybe there is a quick way to fix this problem.

Thank you.

Hi Guys

I had some fun creating this blue hour mood Image.
I was heavily inspiered by all the great Images popping up everywhere these days.

All in all it took me 20h to get there. (rendertime not included, most of the props are from our library)
CC is welcome. Thanks!

Software used: 3d max, Corona (what else) , PS

There is no perfect Studio Setup. Each object needs it own setup.

All These pre build setups or hdri are good for quick Images, but when it comes down to make objects look realy good you Need to adjust each light by Hand.
If there would be an easy quick solution, professional product fotographer would have a hard time.

Best thing for testing light is the Corona IR. you see the reflections move over your object. This makes it much easier to figure out what the lights are doing with your object.

Hi. These Images are realy good work. I like them a lot. May i ask, how Long they took to render on what Kind of machine.
The look super smooth. Are your walls reflecting or are they "just" diffuse?

[Max] I need help! / Re: itoo forest preset masking
« on: 2017-05-05, 09:38:05 »
unfortunately i can't select the preset objects to give them id's.

As far as I know Itoo abandoned xref objects for their own library/presets to maintain scene backward compatibility. The objects are just copied to the forest_templates layer. You should be able to access them there as usual. Of course changing the preset inside the Forest object (adding new geometry) means redoing IDs/mask selections.

Hmm we need adjusted child/container handling sooner or later.

Good Luck

Bam!!
It works! I must admit i've never opened the forest template layer. Selecting the stuff there gave me the posibility to give them object IDs.
Knowing this helps a lot.

Thank you!

[Max] I need help! / itoo forest preset masking
« on: 2017-05-04, 15:49:52 »
Hi

I would like to use the forest presets with corona. The big Problem is that corona does not handle the forest object as one maskable object.
when scattering other stuff i use the id's of the scattered objekts to make them appear in the mask. unfortunately i can't select the preset objects to give them id's.
Does anyone know a solution for this Problem.

Thanks

The room Looks great. Nice materials and light. But the damn uncanny valley! Imo 3d People are still not usable for Close up Rendering. The look look like scary dolls. Have you seen House of wax?... I know the pain. Photoshop 2d People in Images is a pain in the neck and takes ages. There are very few People in the buiz who masterd the 2d implementation. 3d People are great for arch viz from fart away. Maybe the one of the Close up Problems is the material. They are very matt. There is no reflection in Skin hair or eyes.
I dont get why they don't ship them with defined shaders.

Sorry for the rant, as i said, the Images all in all is very well done, it's just those 3d People.

Cool... I did a Basilisk some time ago and i can totaly agree on your comment. Playing with These fine Details and camera positions is just fun. How did you build the model. Sculpting Programm or old School box moddeling in max?

I also thought 3 days is a crazy short time for such a nice model. I think car paint could use some work, and generally the car could be placed in some more interesting environment. (hint: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cZ7k6BJd30)

Thanks. As i said. The three days (3x 8 Houres ) were split in smaller parts. Everytime the payed Jobs gave me some spare time i worked some hours on it. This fact was great because i was super entusiasic each time and started with full energy. If i would have done it in one big block my concentration would not have allowed this fast result. (and... there is no Detail done on the interior )

The most time i spent  on the detail stuff arround the car. The base Body was done quit early in the process. This curvy shapes arn't as hard as modern cars with their sharp lines. The Loop Management is much harder there.

Most of the Details are directly exractable from the base Body. The make the parts fit perfec i clone and detach the polys from the "mother object", flip them and continue working with them. This saves tons of time of fiddeling with werts to make glas and Frame fit (to give an example)

The car paint is ment to look a bit dull, to give the Impression of an older car. Maybe it could use some tweeks.

I hope to have some more hours in the Future to place it in a cool scenary.

Hi

Here is another Car render i did. (3d max + corona 1,6 )
This time i build the model myself. It was a nice challenge and took me 3 days all in all to get to this result.
I hope to find the time to put it in some nice Environments, but for now i am quit happy with these Images.

Hope you like it.
