[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Chaos Cosmos broken

Hi, any one has an idea why my Choas Cosmos browser just show a white area. I did something while downloading an asset, I can't remember, most likely crashed but now I can't get the cosmos browser back on.

Hi,
I noticed the image editor crashes when you quit it. I will use the editor after watching the video on light mix. Seems a handy app for co-workers here to to fine tune lighting after render.
Under Rosetta as well.

Hi,
I wanted to look at the tutorial on You Tube "Connecting HDRI rotation with CoronaSun".
But it is set to be private and I can't see it.
Can this be fixed ?

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / shift in displacement and texture map

Hi,
I noticed that in daily build 9 there is a shift between the displacement mapping and the texture mapping in the base layer of a physical material.
See attachment. This is a brick wall where the displacement does not follow the texture mapping. it only happens when  the texture tag is set as cubic and when the scale is reduced with the length U and V. At 100% the displacement and texture maps fit perfectly well.

I hope this can be fixed since I use a lot of brick textures rescaled and mapped as cubic instead of as a UV in C4D. I did not notice this before in versions 8.

Any idea when S26 will be supported ? Or is it already ?. I haven't tried the current  installer and rather wait for instructions by Chaos.

I hope corona scatter will have a setting for the camera cone to be used for reducing the amount of clones. Surface-spread by Laubwerk does this incredibly well. It reduces render times, viewport speed and need for ram a lot.

I am about to order a new m1 Ultra.
Just wondering what specs are best.
I think 128Gb ram, 2Tb disk and I wonder if the GPU cores mean anything from 48 to 64. Maybe for Redshift but for Coronarender it probably does not make a difference.
I assume a big harddisk is good for quick access to resources whan starting a render. Biggest bottleneck I experience is starting a render like a 100 times an hour to finetune settings.

Anyhow, I think that Coronarender now is the best render engine to go for in Apple's world. With the latest hardware most likely fast as well. Since my work is about modeling (vectorworks & C4D)  for over 75% of the time and 25% rendering a new M1 ultra is probably faster all together than any PC. I think Apple is one the right track.

I hope the problems with the license server (daily builds v8) are soon fixed.

C4D often crashes when you click (little red button on the far top left of the vfb) to quit the corona vfb when its been (interactive)rendering a while. Might be lack of ram since I am testing Graswald assets on my MacBook m1 16Gb.
Although it crashes at particular actions like the one described above its actually all very stable so far.

Thin shell transparency settings v8
Fot the thin shell settings for transparency I would really love to see some explanation for the transparency settings. I am trying to create materials for leaves but it seems hard to set things right for how the other side of the leaf looks.
Any help appreciated.

v8/R25 osx 12.1 Intel iMac late 2015.
I noticed that C4D easliy freezes when I rotate a corona decall.
I use quixel decalls converted to physically based materials.
I love these decalls though, great new feature.

Hi,
I notice that rendering on a MacBook Air 16Gb only 4 cores render with a big model with lots of vegetation (6,7Gb swap used). Smaller models render using 8 cores with about 1,6 swap used. Corona render preparing the scene which takes rather long uses only one core. Is this all normal behaviour. Its a pity that only 4 cores are used when you would actually expect more cores at work in a larger model.

Another thing I notice that C4D layers set not to render just render all the same. I have to turn of render for specific geometry using the red dots in the object window.

For the rest it all renders rather fine on my MacBook Air M1. I am hoping for a better iMac soon with much more memory and cores. Modeling and rendering small stuff is very fluent on the MacBook Air M1.

Maybe this has been reported before but I got materials with a volumetric setting rendering black inside a global volumeor inside a large volume.

I can't get Corona 7 to show up in C4D S24. Set to Rosseta C4D crashes or starts without Corona installed.

Hi, Maybe not for this forum but the moderator will tell me.
Tried to install Octane X from the Apple App Store for C4D R23 on my new MacBook m1 to see if it is a faster alternative for Corona Render.
Well, after three days working with the Otoy support team and several links to different updates the plugin never worked. Could neither find any reviews of users that had it working. In the end I deleted my account at Otoy, won't be back any time soon.

The whole experience with Otoy is the exact opposite of Corona Render. From the start a few years ago Corona Render was a delight. I came from Maxwell Render btw. I really wonder how Apple and Otoy came to the decision to advertise a dead on arrival for the App Store.

Hi,
I would love to see a option within corona where corona would use virtual memory without any warnings or crashing the system. I most often have scenes with a lot of vegetation and my systems do not have enough ram. But corona renders just fine using virtual memory. its just a hassle to get passed the warnings and crashes.
Maybe a bug still but I always need to restart before rendering a scene using virtual memory. Otherwise corona crashes.
