which renderfarm is that? Just write them to install corona, I doubt they will want to stay behind rebus, fox and others ;)

My thoughts exactly, which is why I contacted them :P

It's Garagefarm.net
Last time I heard they were going to contact to ask about licenses for them to use it.

Hope it comes sooooon!

General CG Discussion / Corona Tutorial YT Channel
« on: 2014-04-22, 05:56:21 »
Hey guys (and gals, are there any?)

I'm really new to Corona
and when I looked at the tutorial section in the forum, I couldn't really find that much and has a lot of non-tutorial stuff in it.

So I'm thinking of starting a YT channel with Corona tutorials on shading, lighting and rendering (and optimization for different type of scenes).
It would be one where anybody with a good tutorial can submit a video to be uploaded and, if they have and want to, have their blog/site linked.

Even short walkthroughs of how a scene was set up, any shader you think deserves attention, lighting and rendersettings (even though there's not much to customize there)
could  help or some experimental testing work on materials and/or lighting.

Are there people interested in this and also somebody already has a tutorial now or in the planning that could be uploaded?

Interesting to hear some different viewpoints.

I want asap switch to Corona and learn everything to get the best and fastest renders out of it.

For now however, I'm using iRay as well actually, simply because I need certain scenes and animations rendered with a renderfarm
and my favourite most cost effective one doesn't support Corona..yet (I might try Rebus soon, as they do support it since
recently).

And Iray is gently dozing on his side...

Haha it seems like that.
A shame I think, because it's shipped with Max and in recent years it's become clear people are interested
in unbiased renders.
Well, it has given the opportunity to a great renderer like Corona :)

Very nice and minimalistic and play with light/color.

Rendertimes (and cpu specs)?

Awesome, would look great in some romantic art deco interior :)
Downloading now and will share some renders when I use it.

Indeed most are a bit too dark, even for the scene you chose which is secluded and a bit dark.

But love the atmosphere and styling of the scene. All the nice clean renders are great and all for arch viz, but this has character :)

Just brighten it up a bit, but keep nice contrast.

Hello Keymaster, I was wondering if there has been contact with garagefarm to support Corona for their cloud rendering?
I asked a while ago on their FB page and they had to look into the license you offer for render farms.

I know Rebus supports Corona, but IMO garagefarm beats the usual suspects in price so would be a marriage in heaven, Corona and Garagefarm :)

It was rendered with A5, so coronaLight material wasn't available. IIRC it was hdr maps assigned to corona mtl's emmisive slot.
Noise to signal ratio reached acceptable level after 20-30min, but i kept rendering a little longer to get even cleaner image. An hour or so.

Ah thanks!, one thing though; You said you applied the HDRI to the emissive slot, but of which material?
The top part of the seamless background?

Too bad it didn't make it..

Renders look great, just a tad too kitsch and 'glitzy' for me, but that might be the actual interior decoration and materials.

One silly question.
Since self illumination doesn't work in Corona, how do you do the image screenshot on the computer monitor?
Also done with CoronaLight mt ?

Ah thanks. Pretty basic indeed but appreciate.
Experimenting is good and I think what we're all doing in this industry, esp. with an awesome new render :)

Where is your portfolio btw, if you have one?

Would love to see the material for the chocolate (or jam?) and the brown (cracker or something?)

Some chap asked me to share floor material of my latest rendering. So here it is. Studio setup and material itself:

You used emissive planes here, right? With normal Corona mat. set using the emissive option or did you use the CoronaLight mat?
How long/how many passes did it take before acceptable noise levels were reached?
