Hi Forum,

Long time Corona-user here (Version 10, Hotfix1).  My question is if anyone else has been experiencing super-long rendering times when adding bitmap roughness to glass?  Typical case would be a wine bottle-- adding in a tri-planar map for smudges, scratches..etc to the roughness slot.  I am not sure if it's just me, but adding this in has dramatically increased render times (like 10x)... seems like much more than before.  I am at the point that I have to abandon adding in details to shots.

Is there something in that workflow that is causing this very dramatic slow-down?  Thank you!

Best bet would be sharing a scene with the material set up that causes the slowdown, and measures of actual speed with and without the extra detailing (it's easy for something to feel "10x slower" and not actually be that once measured... but then maybe it is 10x slower who can say, without side by side comparison :) ).

Hi,

It reminds me of people who reported extraordinary long rendering times (I was one of them) when using Triplanar map with a particular version of Corona (10 I guess). Maybe that's the cause of your issue? Did you try rendering it without Triplanar map, just to check if you get normal rendering times?

Hi,

A similar issue was reported earlier and as per my knowledge this has been already fixed in the newest version of Corona which is Corona 11 HF 2.

Triplaner Performance issue: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=40848.0

Can you please upgrade to Corona 11 HF 2 and see if the problem persists?

You can download Corona 11 HF 2 from here: https://corona-renderer.com/download
