Hi,

We are rendering out some cubemaps (12288x2048) but the tiles are coming out of alignment.

Splitting the tiles into 2048x2048 in photoshop shows that the tile seams are being offset. This is making the renders in our pano viewers unusable as we are getting seams where everything should be seamless.

We have done these types of renders in the past, but on Corona4 (running latest Corona 5 at the moment)

Attached some examples and render settings.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I'm trying to switch out corona bitmaps in the Corona Select Map via maxscript (eventually pulling from an array), but I can't seem to create a new CoronaBitmap for the Select Map with a predefined bitmap already applied, only a blank one.

This is what I have so far, but I can't seem to get the syntax correct.

[Max] I need help! / Caustics Element & Tile Rendering

Hi,

Is the Caustics element applied as a post effect (like bloom/glare) when just enabled in the render element only?

I am getting random looking tiles on the Caustics element when using tile rending through Deadline.

Is this the expected behaviour? as I would have thought it would be processed with all the Cessential passes etc.

Hi,

I'm just looking at the CoronaImageBatch for some processing, but it is ignoring the file in the folder that the .bat file is located in.

It seems to pick up an unrelated image in the cfb history. It should be processing the sample.cxr in Y:\TEMP\j\2019\autoGlare

[Max] I need help! / Caustics not working

Hi,

I've followed the standard tutorial on creating caustics with Corona, but they don't seem to render out at all (using 3 hotfix1 at the moment). We need these caustics as part of the main render, so switching to PPM just to render them (as other tutorials say) isn't a workable solution.

I've attached the test scene, but the attached render shows what result I am getting.

Any ideas?

[Max] I need help! / Cube Map 360 - Flipped Image

Hi,

When using the Cube Map 360 setting in the CoronaCamera, the rendered image is flipped horizontally.

If I set the camera back to Spherical360 or Cylinder360 and it renders everything in its correct place.

I can add a Mirror modifier onto the camera, and it flips it back the correct way.

Any idea why this is happening?

Hi,

Is it possible to issue a command to stop the current render in the Corona Frame Buffer?

We are usually logging into render nodes and stopping the render manually, so it finishes the image and denoises where it has got up to at that point (normally before it has hit the noise threshold)

Ideally I would like to issue a Deadline command, but anything through maxscript to stop the render might be workable.

[Max] I need help! / Deadline Tile Rendering Element Errors

Hi,

We've been seeing the attached when using Deadline to split the render up into tiles - the bloom/glare pass doesn't render correctly and looks like it is limited to the tile render space, rather than part of the full image.

Also noticed that Corona saved out an interactive bloom/glare pass itself with the render, and that was fine.

Tested on Corona 1 and Deadline 9 and Deadline 2 with the newest sp for Deadline10.

Any ideas?

Hi all,

Is it possible to get Corona to stop saving out render elements when the save file box is disabled in 3dsmax?

We do a lot of test renders without always saving a file, but the render element paths are still active and will save out.

As a workaround, I have been running a script the strips all element paths, but sometime you forget and all elements from previous jobs are overwritten.

Any ideas?

[Max] I need help! / Deadline Tile Rendering

Hi all,

Getting an issue when rendering tiles with Deadline.

Once the image has been recompiled, you can faintly see the tile outline from where they have been assembled, but it becomes very obvious once you start denoising the image.

Examples attached, rendered to a Corona CXR.

I am precalculating the UHD cache, and all render nodes are loading that to render the image tiles. Scene is set to noise level limit of 3 so everything should be the same.

All render nodes are using the same version of Corona as well.

I'm not sure if it matters, but I switched the Ray Tracing Core to BVH full SAH from Embree and the tiles were not visible (although I didn't have the denoiser turned on so can't check how that looks.

I'll keep testing, but any ideas in the meantime?

Hi,

I'm testing out Corona at the moment with Deadline, but it seems to error out when loading a precalculated UHD cache and using Tile Rendering in Deadline.

I've posted this on the Thinkbox forums, but they aren't sure what the problem is either. (https://forums.thinkboxsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=15850

As soon as you set the Precomputation to load a UHD cache and do tile rendering, it will throw up loads of key-value pair errors and strip all the render element paths.

It looks like it is trying to set the UHD cache as an output path, which is then messing up the Deadline Submission:

If I delete all render elements, but just leave the Render Elements Active checked when the UHD is set to load it will give the above error.

Using the latest Corona 1.7.2 version, and have tested it with Max 2016/Max 2018 with Deadline 9 and 10.

Any ideas?

Can we get to the Corona Frame buffer through maxscript? I need to turn if off for some network rendering (Setting it to None in the System->System Settings option).
