Hi,

I'm trying to animate a Corona Sky with clouds. I followed this tutorial:
but I don't get the same results.
I've animated Variety and Phase just like in the tutorial but it looks like clouds don't change over time. Their shape remains pretty much the same.
Also I've animated Offset X and Offset Y but clouds appear to move only on the Y axis (Offset X ranges from 0 to 3000m and Offset from 0 to -10000m).

Your help is appreciated.

Hi,

Looking closely, I can see that the clouds are changing, it is just hard to tell that as they are moving quite fast.
I would suggest the following:
• Freeze the clouds (no offset animation)
• Play around Phase and Variety parameters, understand what values give you the desired effect with desired amount. You may also want to try animating the amount as well
• Only after getting the Phase/Variety/Shape changes you want, try animating the movement.

For seemingly moving only on one axis: both axes work, for sure. You may just need to increase the value for Offset, clouds have pretty large scale and values like 3km can appear to not have much effect.
If you think it make sense to have change clouds offset unit from "m" to "km", feel free to mention about it. I have often found that too large values should be used as "meters" for clouds to move the amount wanted.

Hi,

No sorry I don't have any update, I prefered to go for an animated backplate: the animation is pretty short, around 2 seconds, and the backplate did the trick pretty well so I gave up for now on the animated Corona sky.

Plus I wanted an overcast sky and I was not too sure how to achieve this with Corona sky: adding a color correction map to desaturate the sky maybe?

The closest you can get to overcast sky is to go with full cloud amount, no sun, and play with phase and variety to get the coverage wanted.
Playing with color correct can also help.

It looks pretty cool. I even replaced the animated backplate by a Corona sky 🙂
Thanks for your advice.
