[Max] I need help! / Strange shadow problem in reed
« on: 2024-03-15, 15:43:15 »
Hi,

I got some reed plants. They have flower tops (plums) that use a lot of single sided surfaces with opacity mask for the seeds in the plums.
When I get close to the plums they display (kind of) correct. But when moving back with the camera the plums get black. In the attached image you can see the same set up close and in the back of the image.
I replaced the material with a standard grey and that also kind of has the problem (not as visible though)

Is this solvable? Or should I simply replace the plum topts with real geometry? Could it be because there are too much intersecting single sided surfaces?

Hi,

Thanks for the great software. Love it.

We always use a lot of xref scenes (houses) in our final exterior scenes. This keeps our main exterior scene small.
In those house scenes we have lights (exterior wall lights etc.). When we build our exterior scene, we xref/scene those "small" houses.
But...all our xref-lights come in the "Rest" layer of Lightmix in the main exterior scene. Is it possible to have those xref lights in separate layers (preferably the layers they use in the source xref scene)?
Or is this a Max problem?

Thanks and best regards

Hi, I have the exact stupid problem. Did your problem get resolved?
With me, it is just 1 scene.
Anyone from corona knows how to fix this?
