OPTIMIZATION - WORKFLOW

(1/1)

Digital Esthetics:
Hello all 3DsMax friends.

So I have worked with 3Dsmax and Corona for a long while. But I still struggle to optimize my scene's. And I was thinking that all of you can shime in on what your workflow is.
Me for example I usually try to low poly objects thats not close to camera, take away displacement where its not needed etcetera. But sometimes I even bake textures, but is baking textures worth it? What bugs me is that we have engines like Unreal 5 that runs smooth, real time with high quality and looks realistic. But "same scene" will take 10-30 minutes per frame. And even though I know both Softwares are different I can't help but think that I would like slightly less accuracy for faster renders. Whats your thoughts?

arqrenderz:
For me one BIG optimization is textures, on very big projects im relinking all textures to a different folder and resizing them using fast stone photo resizer, IF I know that the project is going to be BIG, i try to prooptimise the meshes from the start. Also corona bitmap can save a big chunk of the ram. (NOT all shaders behave well with corona bitmap because it lacks some options that max bitmap has so be careful )

I would love to hear more about this.
Don't you feel like if you reduce the texture you loose detail?
I've never seen corona bitmap much different from the 3dsMax but map?

arqrenderz:
I haven't seen any real degradation in quality, if the textures are big enough C bitmap will help.
