Hardware / 7950x system RAM - MOBO recommendation
« on: 2023-01-07, 15:24:00 »
Hi guys, happy new year and best wishes to all.

I'm trying to configure a couple workstations for the office, I have made up my mind to 7950x system but I don't know which RAM and mobo to choose.

I'll go for:

AMD 7950x
Noctua NH-D15NH-D15 chromax.black
Corsair HX Series HX1200 1200W
Corsair Obsidian 750D
GTX 1070 (i know that is somehow old but as we have a couple of them laying around I'll use these for now)

My concerns do i need a dual channel configuration for the RAM I have read for the 7950x so I need 2*64GB but it seems that i can't find any reseller for 1 module of 64gb DDR5,
in addition, what is the best mobo to set up this configuration?

Thanks in advance :)

[Scatter] I need help! / Chaos scatter optimization
« on: 2022-12-20, 11:23:02 »
Hi everyone, I hope you guys have a great time.
I have a scene with a lot of scattering going on and i would like to know if it's better performance-wise to have less scatters and more scattered geometries inside or it's exactly the same if I have more scatters and less scattered objects (let's say that the total amount of scattered instances remains the same), Thank you!

General CG Discussion / Looking for a region render solution
« on: 2022-07-19, 18:05:23 »
Hi guys, I hope you are enjoying the summer sun :)

I'm facing an issue which I can't find any script on initial 3ds max tool that will make the work done.

I would like to render a region of my camera (in a specific resolution, something similar to 3ds max blowup) but i would like to have this region even if I close and open again 3ds max as initial 3ds max region/ crop/ blowup etc. are refreshing if you restart the software. Do you know any script that can maintain the region area of the composition? The only thing that somehow gave me a possible solution is making a box ( not renderable) and use corona selection from viewport to have the area selected but this stills not a  viable solution as i have to make a 12K render to keep the region 5K.

Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to your reply, cheers!

General CG Discussion / Batch import textures to materials
« on: 2021-10-05, 19:39:29 »
Hi guys I hope you have been all great and safe.

I'm looking for any script/ plugin or workflow that could batch import correctly all the textures to corona materials.

I'm currently trying to convert a library of textures ex. Arroway to ready made materials so I have like 10 different diffuse colour variations and the same texture for refl/ gloss/ normal/ disp etc. so I would like a script that could import all the diffuse variations with correctly all the other map textures and preferably name the materials according to the diffuse name.

I have tried ezMat, pretty fast import but when I execute it on a diffuse map it imports all the different diffuse textures variations with wrong gamma and is also not that batch process for a lot of materials but it saves some time if it hadn't that gamma problem.

In addition I have tried texture material loader which is great for one by one material creation.

Last but not least tried the poliigon script for importing poliigon textures to materials and use advance renamer to batch rename the arroway library to correspond suffix of poliigons workflow (ex. replace the word diffuse to _d_ so poliigon script knows that this map should go to diffuse slot) but I have to manually duplicate all the refl/ gloss/ normal etc. for each and any of diffuse variants.

I would be super happy if there is anything that could save me some time. Thank a mile in advance:)

[C4D] General Discussion / C4d Corona to Vray convert
« on: 2021-03-10, 16:15:23 »
Hello guys, I'm facing an issue and thought someone may have an idea on how to solve this out.

I would like to convert some models from Corona to Vray in Cinema4d, In vray there is a material converter but it seems that it doesn't work properly.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Guys!

It's been a while now that I am searching for a script that will do the following task, please if you have something In mind drop it because it will save me a tone of time :)

Example: We have a client which produces fabrics so we get provided with 6 - 12 different color variations in every image that we produce, the problem comes when I would like to test almost all of the fabrics in different models in my scene with random UVs let's say in a sofa, in an armchair and in a plaid on the bed. That means that I have to make for every fabric that I would like to test 3 different tilling options which is a time-consuming process for no reason.
My thought is if there is a script that can change the tilling of Diffuse/Reflection/Reflect gloss/Normal etc. at the same time.

Thank you, Cheers!

Hardware / New PC build - Advise
« on: 2019-01-14, 10:51:57 »
Hey guys,
I'm about to built a new workstation mostly for personal use not heavy production in this and I would like to see your thoughts if something everything is ok in regards to what I read in the forum.

I already have the following parts that I'm planning to use if you think that are compatible:

- PSU Corsair CX Series 850 Watt 80 Plus Bronze - Semi Modular
- HDD WD RED 7200 rpm
- GPU Asus 1070 Turbo

Parts that I will buy:

- SSD 500GB Samsung 970 Evo
- CPU AMD Threadripper 1950x
- CPU FAN Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3
- MOBO ASRock x399 Taichi AMD TR4
- RAM 64GB Corsair Vegeance DDR4 - 3000 CL15 Quad Kit

One concern that I have regarding my old parts is the PSU, somewhere I read that I would need full modular that will have two output cables for the CPU is this correct?
Thank in advance, Cheers! :)

Gallery / Bronxes Studio _ Christmas Mood
« on: 2018-12-28, 17:34:38 »
Hello everyone and Merry Christmas, the following video formes a non commercial project that We develop with my colleague Nefeli, our aim was a Christmas interior set up, we had about 4 days to produce it before our Christmas holidays.

Our intension was to focus on a crisp bright space that will produce the Christmas warmth atmosphere. With that being said we started planning our frame and choosing the props that will help us reproduce the Christmas spirit, having in mind that music plays a massive role to an animation video we thought that a minimal vinyl turntable will help us with the mood and at the same time will add a nostalgic tone to the image. We ended up dividing the scene into three depth layers, in the foreground we used some iconic Christmas touches like the Christmas tree with some ornaments and blinking lights, as a second layer which was our focusing point in the scene we placed the turntable and as the background layer we filled up the image with some wrapped gifts, cardboard paper roll and candles just to boost the Christmas playful atmosphere.

In the technical aspect after setting up the composition our most time consuming part was key framing the turntable. Having already some very basic knowledge on key framing and animating objects we thought that a mechanism like that would be suitable to be animated with IK Solvers. We experiment for the first time with IK but we ended up using just simple key frame animation for the most parts and a very basic IK set up for the niddle. For our convenience we set up a loop of the Christmas lights and a full round of the vinyl so we can render it once and multiply it on After Effects. Other than that for the lighting mood, we set up two different Corona Scatters with one "Tree light" each, we animated the light material so it loops every 36 frames and with a step of 18 (half the loops frames) among them. Finally, we placed some spruce derbis on the right hand side of the image with 3ds max object paint that we made it with megascans.

The project was made with 3ds max, Corona renderer, Megascans and After Effects. We render this video on our office workstations in about a day and a half.

Hardware / LAN Network - newbie
« on: 2018-06-16, 12:16:57 »
Hey fellas,

I have some big issues regarding freezing and lagging while I am interactively rendering, so I'll share my conserns.

I have 2 WS which are connected via a switch. In other words, I have shared some folders (Library/ Projects Folder/ etc.) in the network. I am pretty newbie to this connection stuff so the only thing i did was to share the folders over the Network from Windows, no static IP or other fancy stuff. So the forst WS (with the HDD inside the case) is doing great with the interactive render, the other which loads every little map/ asset/ file from the shared folder over the network is gtetting freezed every time I would like to change something in interactive render, even a slight color correction might take 3 minutes. What I've thought is either the "DIY" Lan is rubbish or there is something else that i don't know.

My WS are the same, except that the one that loads the maps over the network (from the HDD of the other WS) is a dual xenon 2699 v3 and the other WS with the HDD mounted on is with one xeon 2699 v3.
My HDD which contains all the library is a toshiba 7200 rpm 3TB.

Are you guys have something in mind that could help?
The only thing that i thought was to buy another HDD and with some kind of software to live synchronize this two HDD so every WS gets the assets/ files/ maps from it's local Hard Drive.

I am looking forward to your thoughts, Cheers! :)

Off-Topic / Library/ asset organize
« on: 2018-05-16, 18:50:21 »
Hello fellas, i hope you are running on a great week!

I am trying to be on the new organization era because my library is extremely messy and i think that i am gonna give Connecter a try, is there any video or thread that describes a little more in depth the workflow and some tips & tricks regarding that?
I posted also on an older thread but the forum suggested to create a new post, so i have already read the conversation of the previews post.
I already read Juraj's trick with the tags which is really smart, but are the tags remaining thought if you reinstall Connecter?) Additionally, i have heard that having the folders directly in the HDD ( D:/Decorative sets/Candle Holders ) is a lot faster than having fro example D:/Library/3dsky/Decorative sets/Candle holders does this worth having your HDD with a tone of folders? And finally, would an SSD dedicated for the library would make things better? Really thanks guys, Cheers :)

« on: 2017-10-26, 15:18:48 »
Hi guys! This is our last project i created with my colleague @nefeli_kallianou .

The initial concept of the following images was to create a retail store for print advertisment.
Having finished with our commercial part we got to develop our project a step further.
Software used    Corona Render |  3ds Max  |  Photoshop  |  After Effects.

Orangegic.

ARCHITECTURAL SCOPE

The composition of Orangegic includes two main areas a public and a private one.
The main retail area consists of various ambiences such as clothing rails, stands and a lounge area.
While the private one is an innovative, collaborative, impactful working environment.

Within an old industrial shell, we developed a new clothing boutique store.
Our preference in this project was a gentille, sharp and warm design of a store inspired and motivated of the orange color pallette and clean lines.
We tried getting away with a fine tuning between the retaining white bounding walls, the original concrete structure pillars and the clean plasterboards.
On the lighting section we aimed on making a white cloudy overcast enviromental condition and enchance a cozy atmosphere with some hanging spotlights that floods the interior with warmish light.

DESIGN FIELD

The desire to bring some warm touches that would be involved to the general structure of the store guided our design decisions about combination of materials and the composition of surfaces.
Taking advantage of the old shell we implement some metallic finishes such us copper and brass which incorporation with velvet's soft structure produced high contrast and depth in a natural state.
Among the materials chosen, coper and velvet predominate due to their rich dark orange-browny colours.
Our goal of a more sophisticated orientation underpinned of the Thonet's seatweaving woven pattern on  the wall hanging  panels and the booths.
A pattern of palm tree's leaves was embossed in a plasterboard and some shades of green, cement and white marble was added in the space.

CGI TECHNICAL ASPECTS

Corona Scatter. Having tried before the multiscatter plug in, this time we wanted to give a try to Corona's native scatter for the distribution of some hairs over the knits to achieve wool softness.
Deformed Edges. To achieve the deformation on the "old shell" of the building we used the deformed edges script by Branko Zivkovic that we found out on Jakub's Cech first manifest.
Damaged Pillars. We used some damaged textures found on textures.com and we implement them on our pillars with Arrimus 3d techincs.
