With the native C4D renderer(s) it is possible to do the following:
Add a base texture to a model with, say, Color (the C4D way to say: It's a diffuse texture!) and Bump active.
Add another texture tag with just Bump active and activate "Mix Texture".
This way you get another layer of, for example, scratches mixed with the base texture.

Would this be possible with Corona, too?

No, sadly not(yet). The same thing goes for the layer shader. I always have to find some workaround when trying just to add a coating.
For example, when you have the diffuse channel disabled or all channels except for reflection/bump/etc.,  the layered material with the disabled diffuse material will be mixed as a black material and it has to be masked out.

Had it again, I wanted to add a wet stain onto a tiled floor (no UV mapping involved) and I wanted this stain to interact with the underlying bump and color - a PITA to do without "Mix texture" (and a child's play with "Mix Texture" natively in C4D).
I really miss this.

+1 for Mix texture (Add material Since R21) feature.

I cannot stack more than one material or am I missing something?

Base Material (Sand) + Second Material (Grass) + Opacity Material stacked isn't working.
Only the transparent grass is showing.
