I can think in some features :) 
Include-Exclude areas with splines with degradation betwen both
Scatter on a spline path
Collision detection
Detection of edges (i mean that the scattered object dont break the given path, Like the grass growing in the sidewalk or so)
Clusters of elements (of the same elemments)
Color variations, and vertex colors
Brush proxy painter

And a lote more from more advanced users!!

Btw this is an excellent news! Glad to be on corona side :)

I have another idea for region render

How about interactive region render
You can chose what to render directly in the buffer while it is working on an image, would be great to focus on one side of the image ...

The Ies Light Bug has happened to me 2 times. In my case its very random, (alredy send the scenes to keymaster) some ies got corrupted and destroy the file...
In my work im always using Ies so it a big thing to me.
