I think leaves should have more "juicy" yellowish colour where the light is passing through. Some more reflectivity and a subtle bump map could also help. All these things are probably dependant on the kind of plant you are referring to. :) And yes, better geometry (for example leaves bending in some direction) would be nice.

after reading the post "Path tracing samples VS passes", I understood that it is the number of passes that increase the AA quality

I didn't know about the fact that reducing pt samples could improve aa.

You should have known this if you really read that thread. :)

But yeah, this is something illuminating at the beginning of adventures with Corona. This is something every new user should know and it should be written with huge letters once the documentation is made.

I don't "need" this, just thought it would be a useful option. Some users will probably want it anyway. Maybe an additional "use solid colour - fake" checkbox would be useful?

The weather suggests there is a tsunami heading towards you. You should definitely make the background brighter. Browsing through some reference photos or other renders might help here. :)

What kind of image sampler (multisampling) did you use for you comparison? I think it would be best to use fixed@1 subdiv in Vray and 1 pass in Corona for an honest test.
